Mothman is a legendary moth-like creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia. After the collapse of the Silver Bridge, Mothman was never seen again. His spirit lives on in this darkly delicious black IPA, with a balanced blend of roasted malts and citrusy hops to enjoy on moonlit nights.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing. Looks really good in the glass, dark black, nice head. Fine hoppy-fruity aroma. Starts mild malty, light roasty, more and more hoppy notes, light fruity hints of lemon. Finish much more mild, less hoppy, shy roasty malty notes. Okay.

Many thanks to weihenweizen for bringing this can to Europe. Dry roasted beginning. Fresh malty, fruity with a dry floral bitter ending. Lots of burned grain, moderate bitter, round and nice.

Floor 42, share a bottle or two! Thanks to Leighton for the can. Almost clear dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and has decent fine carbonation. Bitterish dark malts, some roast. Bitter dark chocolate. Little dark fruits. Bitter finish leaves a bitter linger. A bit harsh.

Solid black IPA, more roasty and porter-ish than a hop-bomb, yet with enough piney bitterness to offset the dark beer notes. Chocolate and dark roast coffee meet with resin, pinecones, and grapefruit, leading to a classic--if a tad mellow--Northwest hop fade. Easygoing texture is almost too thin, but eeks out a win. Tasty.

Can, sent as an extra in a trade with Wingmane. Cheers Dave! Pretty soupy, dark, cola brown. Messy, sticky, lasting, light tan head. Nose has wood ash. Some dark toffee. Bit of blueberry hop. Taste is ashy, woody bitter. Not a deal else going on. Decent mouthfeel. Bit of chew. Light carbonation. Full on, ashy, bitterness to close.

Can at L42. It pours pretty dark, near black with a thick tan head. The aroma is toasty, dark chocolate, charred wood, burnt peach and juicy tinned fruit. The taste is crisp, dry, toasty, earthy, wood, roasted malt, slightly waxy, soapy, citrus peel, burnt pine and cacao with a dry, citrussy finish. Medium body and mdoerate, foamy carbonation. Pretty tasting. A solid balck IPA.
