AutumnFest is Weyerbachers own unique twist on the German Oktoberfest style. Copper-amber in color, AutumnFest is made with Vienna and Munich malts for that authentic, Bavarian easy drinking taste. Each sip imparts a wonderful roastiness of malt on the tongue followed by a smooth, consistent finish. Wonderfully balanced with a clean, velvety, slightly fruity taste, AutumnFest is the perfect beer for the Fall- a nice transition between the lighter beers of summer and the darker, heavier winter brews. It is a favorite of many Weyerbacher aficionados, who anticipate the end of summer with this wonderful beer.

Weyerbacher AutumnFest (ABV 5.4%) is generally available in stores August through December. Pick up a case to celebrate the change of seasons. Prost!

Slightly darker than the typical American lager, perhaps like a yuengling in appearance. Not much aroma but I have a stuffy nose. Taste is not really octoberfest like in any way. Festive, yes but not offensive, friendly in its own personality. Rather mild but has an industrial effect that nears bitter on the palate front. Decent carbonation, it certainly is noticeable. Finish is rather behaved and controlled but that industrial mild bitterness keeps rearing it’s head. Overall; easy to drink and above average in quality. However, this is smooth enough that you would never know this is above 6%. Can’t hold a candle to Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest Märzen.

Poured a slightly murky copper color with an orange tint. Has a yeasty, grainy smell with just a hint of hops. Grainy, yeasty flavor, slightly nutty, slightly fruity. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel.

Aroma is of malts and caramel. Decent aroma. The unfortunate thing was I had this soon after drinking a Quad of theirs, so the taste was a little dilluted by it.

Deep golden beer with a moka head. Cave mushroom aroma. Rather bizarre earthy taste and msuty notes. Carboardy taste. Medium bodied. (October 2004).

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the beer poured a golden color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was sweetish and malty with a bit of ripe fruit and vague spice. The flavor was sweet, malty, mildly spicy and had a hint of hops. There was an indescribable off malt flavor to it that was strangely appealing. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid.

2004 bottle. Very lovely soft red almost magenta color with plenty off creamy off-white head. Aroma has tons of fruity hops, they are quite aromatic; lots of cherries, strawberries and nectarines. Flavor, though not gaining bitterness from them, is dominated by the hops. There is a nice even caramel malt and just a hint of roast, but it’s a hops show. Almost reminds me of candied apples. A decent brew, definitely strange and not to style, but that’s ok.

Sampled at From The Vine monthly beer tasting Oct 13th, 2003: Reddish-amber color with a medium thin off-white head. Very thin lacing. Weak malt and caramel aroma. Thin-to-medium body with a sweet malt flavor, along with a light hops presence lingering around. I thought this would be a little more robust given the ABV. The finish is mostly malty with a little fruit and hops thrown in. Barely average overall.

No thanks. A unique twist, eh? Aroma is cerealy, sweet malt. Body is clear and copper-colored, with a thin off-white head. Flavor is a confused medley of cereal, sweet fruit, and wet socks. Has a somewhat bitter, confusing aftertaste. Doesn't resemble the Oktoberfests I'm familiar with.

2003 Batch:
Copper colour with nice red highlights and a medium sized tan head. Smells of a bunch of malt and a bit of spices. Allspice and even a bit of pepper are noticeable in the aroma as it is pretty powerful. Medium-bodied; Strong maltiness in the taste with a bit of the spices showing through followed by a slight metallic twang. The beer opens up a bit and shows a bit sweeter tastes as well as a slight bitter flavour. Aftertaste comprised mostly of the malt and leaving a bit of the spices as well. Overall, a pretty good Marzen, better than the Brooklyn I had earlier tonight. Pretty similar to last year's batch, even though I didnt take much notes from it. With the new year's batch comes a new colourful label that is far from the one displayed on this page. If you get the coloured label, you'll know you are getting this years' batch! Try it if you are in the mood for an autumn beer, you won't be dissapointed! Rating for this year: 8,4,7,2,13

2002 Batch:
Nice dark brown colour, slightly opaque throughout. Slightly nutty smell with a definate malt overload. Nice roasted flavour with some detectable nutty taste. A great all-around 'octoberfest' style beer! Rating for this year: 8,4,7,3,15
