What’s that bite of tartness doing in a pumpkin beer? Adding the unexpected kick of cranberry juice to brighten this traditionally spiced seasonal ale. Pumpkick is brewed with plenty of pumpkin juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but it's the cranberries and touch of lemongrass that send your taste buds sailing.

12 oz. bottle. Thanks, Joe! Clear, dark orange color, with a medium, beige head. The aroma is pumpkin, grape and cider notes, strong spices, and light bread. The flavor is sweet and vinous. Light to medium body, with a light and watery feel. The palate is thin and lightly astringent. Overall, this is an interesting take on a pumpkin beer.

Bottle. I can’t say I pick up the cranberries at all. Mild spices with cinnamon and nutmeg. Some vegetable quality and spice.

12 ounce bottle. Bright amber orange color topped by a small bubbly beige head. Light biscuit malt aroma with subtle notes of nutmeg and cinnamon. Crisp, dry toasted malt flavor with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Slight tartness from the cranberry juice shows up in the finish. Overall, just another pumpkin spiced ale. Nothing special.

Bottle with a best before of 22Dec13. Pours with a lightly hazed orange hued body with a medium sized and somewhat retentive off-white head. Aromas are of lightly biscuity malt, slight pumpkin pie spice (nutmeg standing out the most), lightly fruity, tart, and tannic. Low ester. Flavors are medium malty (biscuity, wonder bread), dry, lightly tart, medium pie spices with a slight eugenol numbness. Somewhat layered malt character and pretty clean fermentation wise. Light tannin in the finish. Moderate to lightly high carbonation, lower bodied. Drinkable, but not super interesting.

12 oz bottle from Imbibe Wine. Nose is pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a general spiciness. Clear orange with a small pale yellow head. Flavor is spicy with a slightly sweet note. Decent pumpkin ale but not great. Where’s the cranberries?

Bottle from Pilgrim’s Market, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, USA. A dark orange coloured pour with a thin white head on top. Vague pumpkin and cinnamon aroma. Slight pumpkin taste, spice and a little cinnamon. Quite thin for a 6% beer.

bottle - Pours orange and smells of pumpkin and spice. It tastes sweet and is jam packed with spices. The pumpkin is notably present too. I’m not getting cranberry, personally, but that’s okay. It’s easy drinking and pretty good.

On draft at Dirty Dicks Crab House in Avon NC. Pours a clear deep copper with a fine white head. Mild aroma with pumpkin pie spice. Pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce. All you need is turkey and you have a thanksgiving dinner.

12oz bottle. Glowing filtered orange body. Thin, glass rimming head. Big pumpkin pie spice aroma. I get a little cranberry in the finish, but overall its just another New Belgium artificial spice bomb. Someone take the flavors away from them. Harsh and astringent notes, whereas a typical craft beer with the same ingredients would be richer, realer. I’m really fed up with all the BS New Belgium floods the market with.
