A brewhouse favourite, this beer was brewed for the first time in our tiny pilot premises in Stoke Newington, hence the name. Brown ale is making a welcome comeback and this is our take on the style. A juicy but light malt backbone gives plenty of support to the generous hops. We love drinking this one.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is light malt, citrus hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a hint of sweetness leading to a malt hop bitter nutty palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. This baby has bubbles! I really enjoyed this. It’s nothing like a traditional brown ale but it’s full of life and packed full of flavour.

Bottle at home, 29th November 13. Distinctive brown ale malts, in the aroma and the taste. Nice and makes a change from the ordinary, would have again.

Bottle from Oddbins, London Bridge, London. A murky brown coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Hoppy, malty, fruity aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, grapefruit, slightly roasty, caramel. This one got better as it went on, decent brown ale.
