LANDBIER is the result of a collaboration with our friends at Lost and Grounded in Bristol.
What could an Australian brewer living in England and a Belgian brewer possibly brew together? A traditional German beer, of course! Alex from Lost and Grounded and Yvan are indeed huge fans of German beers.
Landbier is a fairly rustic, unfiltered beer style, typical of the Franconia region in northern Bavaria. We fermented it with an old bottom-fermenting yeast from the region, which was a favorite of the famous Professor Narziss. Forgotten in the yeast collections of the brewing school in Weihenstephan, near Munich, it was recently "rediscovered" by our friend Mathias Hutzler and his team, world-renowned experts in yeast research.
This is a light amber blonde beer with a fresh yeast aroma, accompanied by subtle fruity notes of physalis and bergamot. The bergamot notes come from a new hop variety developed in Hallertau, Germany.
On the palate, the malt character shines through, with biscuity and slightly caramelized notes, complemented by floral, fruity, and herbaceous hints.
A simple yet refreshing beer, perfect for enjoying warmer weather!

Big fat pint. Rutland Arms. There was no beating this today. Multiple fruit lambics. Good real cider. Hoppy bollocks. Nothing came close. Uber easy drinking malt forward logger with a big hoppage. Class.

On tap at The Hope Carshalton. Clear gold colour. Lasting white head. Some lager aroma. Like a François landbier. But then tastes like a Belgian blond. Really interesting mix of styles. Apricot flavour. Decent. Yep I liked it. Good.

Pours slightly haze. Small white head. Scent is very malty, fruity hops and yeasty notes. Fresh. Taste is full, malty, fresh and crisp, mildly (very mild) sweet finish. Quite nice, refreshing easy drinker. Mildly bitter.

Chop @ Delaneys, Odense. Pours cloudy golden yellow with a white head. Sublime aroma. Crusty white bread, dandelion, pomelo and blossom. A touch of grass. It has the De La Senne finesse. And although I expected Perfection - I am still amazed. 4.5

Draft @ Zenne bar.
