Dark, rich and robust - Laika pours as black as our hearts with notes of chocolate and coffee. It is aged in bourbon barrels, making it slightly boozy on the finish.

Sample from 65 cl. bottle. Love the label! Finally some credit for this legendary Soviet space dog! Pitch back with a thin, tanned head. Roasted aroma with dark malts, red berries, herbal hops, coffee, chocolate, fruits and liquorice. Taste is bitter. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Finishes dry and roasted with liquorice and rich malts. Very enjoyable.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours an intense, pitch black with a small, light brown head. Intense dark chocolate aroma. Rich and very full body, dark slightly salty licorice notes and some bitter dark chocolate again. Not overly roasty. Very, very rich and filling indeed. 081114

Bomber from East End, Knoxville. Pours a dark brown color with a thin fizzy brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, heavy chocolate, tobacco, anise. The taste is roasted malts, bitter chocolate, dark fruits, tobacco, bitter hops. Medium bodied, booze, low carbonation, strong lingering bitterness, chewy texture. Nice stout.

22oz bottle pours an oily, opaque black with some creamy, dark brown head. Big nose, burnt toast, heavy licorice, coffee grounds, dark chocolate, brown sugar, a little cherry cordial. Flavor is very roasty, heavy with dark malt, heavy licorice, brown sugar, toast, burnt coconut meat. Full, dry, roasty finish.

Bottle courtesy of Beerandblues2, thanks! Pretty much black with an extremely dark variegated brown head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of chcolate covered Toosie Pops, licorice, burnt espresso. Taste is rich and roasty bitter cocoa and coffee. Nice.

Bottle - thanks RJ5020. I get to be rater #10 on this beer :). Pours deeeep opaque black with a medium dark brown creamy head that dissipates with nice lacing. One of the darkest heads I have yet to see on any impy. Aroma is roasty, almost burned, coffee, chocolate. Flavor is the same, minimal sweetness, medium bitterness. Notes of coffee, cigarettes, anise, burned things. Tongue coatingly creamy and full bodied. Some warming on the finish. If you like your impys sweet, scroll past, but if you love rich, creamy and bitter, this is your beer.

On tap at the Rocket City Brewfest. Pours pitch black. The aroma is bitter chocolate and coffee. The flavor is very bitter, and only a little sweet. The palate is heavy and sticky with a long bitter finish. Overall, a good stout, but nothing special.
