Our take on a kölsch style ale that is soft on the palate with delicate malt flavor. Balanced with a touch of wheat and honey notes. Dry and winelike with a flowery hop finish.

Can at Charleston Place, Thoroughbred Club. Poured a mostly clear yellow color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma was light toasted malts. Light sweetness. Decent, easy to drink. Light crispness.

4 week old can into a stange. A: Deep gold pour with fast falling head Slow bubbles rising. S: Smells of green apple, alcohol and light toast. T: Dry tart taste is mainly hoppy with dry grassy flavor. A little fermented fruit. M: Medium/light bodied with average level of carbonation and dryish finish. O: Had high hopes for this but found it fairly average. Smells sort of like cheap wine and it’s not all too refreshing. Kolsch lovers advised to try it though.

Crisp pure golden and honey tinted body with a rich, large four centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of grain, light malt, rice, crackers, alcohol and some metal notes - not too pleasant. Light-bodied; Strong malt and cracker/biscuit flavour with a mild grassy and floral note and not much else behind. Aftertaste shows a mild sweetness with some honey and fruit and a little floral flavour, but mainly just malt and a hint of metal. Overall, a decent beer, but too meek and mild to be good - just a ho-hum beer and not worth searching out for. I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Charleston Beer Exchange in Charleston, South Carolina on 19-April-2015 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington near the end of Summer on 15-September-2015.

16 oz can purchased at Wine & Cheese, If You Please? on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The pour is a hazed golden with a bunch of fine carbonation bubbles and a one inch well formed white head. The aroma is a honey malt, grass and soft herbal. The taste is clean homey malt sweet with grass and herbal notes. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and the hay sweet malt finish. Overall solid take on the style.

Sample at Ale Alpharetta, from Trey. Light gold color, with a small, off-white head. Bright notes of honey, lavender, wheat, and light rye. Mild sweetness, with a good light bitterness. Light to medium, with a little sticky body. Very complex for a kolsch. Bright, crisp, and well made.

Bottle. Barnyard lemon malt aroma. Pale yellow with small head. Light sweet lemon malt and mildly bitter grass/hay flavor. Light body. A nice beer but not very Koelsch-like.

Bottle. Light lactic lemon aroma. Clear yellow with a small white head. Grainy malt and grassy bitter flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation. Tasty, but more like a pilsner.
