The flavor of our robust, hoppy American Porter originates in the chocolate and roasted malts then follows through with sharp, earthy bitterness and a rich, smooth cocoa mouthfeel.

Opaque black beer. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Moderate carbonation. Nice dark malt and some tangy minerals. Not much else here. Pretty standard stuff.

in some circles this would almost be considered a BIPA with the hoppy aroma and flavor unlike most porters ive had. roasty malts, black color, objectively rating this one i had to take marks off for the amount of hops. still really good though.

12 oz bottle. use a pint. Black with thick bubbly off-white head. Better then average lacing. Nose is light chocolate with Chinook hops. Taste is slight coffee and chocolate that finishes into a big hop bite. The Hops help balance out the sweetness. Medium bodied with mild carbonation, with a creamy, smooth feel. Troegs did a great job with the recipe of this brew. Good.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a nice roast note with some sweet dark grains and a bit of backing chocolate. Flavor starts with roast but becomes sweeter towards the finish with chocolate and a hint of caramel. Beer is really nice and smooth.

Bottle from Oak Tree. Pours very dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma suggests meat! It’s full of dark malt, chocolate, and some citrusy hop. So how is that meat? My brain isn’t sharing that info with me. It’s full in body. It’s full of dark stuff, and coffee and chocolate. The roast/toast malt is smooth. The hops render it bitter. It’s full of flavor. Just excellent. Final eval: chocolate and dark stuff.

12 ounce bottle. Pours dark brown with a very nice 2 finger dense tan head with good retention and some very nice glass lacing as well. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, caramel, roasted malts, and a slight amount of pine showing through. Taste of chocolate, coffee, caramel and roasted malts; with a nice smooth bitterness on the finish that lingers for a bit. A good amount of lingering roasted chocolate and coffee flavor linger after the finish, with almost no alcohol noticed. Medium carbonation and body with a creamy mouthfeel. Overall I really have no complaints here, this is a very well done porter.

A dark reddish brown porter with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, nice coffee with some good british hops. In mouth, a nice herbaceous chocolate with coffee grains, grassy, good chocolate bitterness. On tap at RFD, Sept. 18 2010.
