Sample from batch #40 at Kurtkeller 004: Pipeworks-tastic 01 on 01/18/2014. The beer is a slightly cloudy yellow-gold color with a medium off-white head that evaporates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of peppercorns, yeast and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of peppery yeast, toasted malt and citrus. The finish is fruity with an herbal yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

DC tasting thanks to noodleuser. Hazy tan yellow body. Sweet, but very true to style, belgo mouthfeel. Excellent, really well executed. Fruity and big yeast esters. Really mile with the peppercorn. Nice!

Sample from bottle at the FoBAB documentary party. Very nicely malty with a little bit of spice, although I totally missed the peppercorns. Instead, I thought the taste was very savory like a good Belgian beer. Touch of funk. A lot of yeast swirled up from the bottom.

Bottle. Strong pepper and malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with minimal head - a couple chunks of pepper floating around. Strong pepper and light barley malt flavor. Medium body. I’m not particularly a pepper fan so not a beer I would want very often but really a decent beer - if you love pepper (spice), definitely one for you.

Bottle - Batch 40. Very lactic, light funky yeast, sweet fruity citrus aroma - pepper not really apparent in the nose. Cloudy straw color with a large white head. Peppercorn, funky yeasty malt, grassy, and sweet lactic flavor. Light to medium body, dry finish.

Bottle courtesy of noodleuser, thanks! Hazy yellow color, white head. Aroma of peppery straw, hay, grass. The black pepper comes into the taste late, but it’s very obvious once it appears.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy golden hay color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of rustic malt with light sweet notes and some light peppery ester. Taste is also dominated by solid rustic malt with balanced sweetness level and light peppery notes with some good floral ester. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Solid offering and I’m glad the pink pepper notes were not overly dominant as it would have been a shame to hide some of the nice characteristics of this beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has light spice with sweet grain and a hint of light red fruits. Flavor begins with sweet grains, light spice, peppercorn and light fruits with Belgian yeast and slightly bitter grass.

THE Sour and Saison tasting. Hazy gold amber beer. Big pale cream coloured head. Smooth light palate, airy and dry. Quite a milky malt - very lactose. Minerals. Mild black pepper and very mild citrus. Finishes soft and airy. Interesting and tasty combo of milky malt and pepper but the sessionability is low - would not want to tackle a whole bottle.

Bottle. Pours cloudy gold and white head. Nose and taste of florals, peppercorn, yeast, lemon zest and dried citrus. Medium body.
