OH BROTHER! is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This crisp, straw-colored ale is blessed with a host of spicy and fruity aromas. We brew it from pilsener malt, candy sugar and some very non-traditional hop choices. But hey, we never said we were monks. We’re just brothers.

On tap at Fountainhead. Pours a clear deep gold with a white head that to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains and floral with a light sweet fruit backing. Flavor starts with sweet grains that last throughout and are joined by flOra and light fruits. A touch syrupy on the tongue.

Bottle. Hazy golden yellow color, scant white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is also very sweet and a bit plain.

Purchased at Evolution Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a Sunday late afternoon while watching the Bears crush the Jaguars. Appearance is a cloudy bright gold with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma of Belgian yeast, coriander, clove, bit of vanilla, sweetness, smell is pretty nice but not like a typical Tripel in my opinion. Taste goes down nice and smooth with a light spiciness, pretty sweet stuff, I like it.

Tap at Blind Tiger, NYC. Pours a cloudy, glowing fold with a pillowy, white head. Pleasing aroma of banana, apple, honey, clove, orange and Belgian sugar. Flavor is very sweet with mild phenols, coriander and apple. Medium in body with restrained carbonation and some warmth. Finishes sweet with light alcohol. A take on the style.

This beer pours a hazy golden-orange color with a medium thick and foamy off-white head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, grassy hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of yeast, citrus, hops and malt. The finish is yeasty with mild spice and malt left over. Above average overall.

bottle - Pours hazy gold with a thin white head. It has a citrus and yeast aroma. The flavor is much the same and is pretty sweet with a slightly dry finish. This medium bodied tripel is quote good though it lacks the complexity of some better examples of the style.

Bomber. Thick layer of yeast visible on bottom. Let’s not disturb it just yet– – pours a bright golden color with a little haze, under a barely off-white head. Smells of crisp malts, a bit of lemon. Taste starts with a touch of sourness, which I see other raters mentioning (good: my new basement is NOT cool at all; I’m concerned for my preciouses). Seems to show a bit of soft water, with sodium underlaying. But bready, bits of honey in the malt, a cross of many wheat styles, focusing on banana, clove, and coriander. Thickens up further down the glass. A bit too much dry wine settles on my tongue, which I don’t quite expect from this style. I think I expect a bit more complexity from abbey style beers, and this does not show much of it.

Wheaty. Banana. Way too much coriander in the aroma and the flavor. It dominates the beer and destroys any subtleies. Very much like a wit. Sweet.

Pour is a cloudy oranger-red with a small white head. Aroma is a nice mix of banana and candi sugar. Flavor is very yeasty and fruity with a bit of the candi sugar and some spice. It leaves a little funk after the swallow. Probably not a spot on example of the style but this is still a tasty beer.

Hazy blonde al with a thcik white head. Light coriander malt aroma, with light orange notes. In mouth, sour lactic notes overpowers the light candy sugar of the malt. Some orange peels noted, but the stringent sourness makes this a biut unpleasant. Guys, stick to the british style.
