Real pumpkin, seasonal spices, and fresh-from-the-patch flavor. Some people say pumpkins are fruit. Other people say pumpkins are vegetables. We say… they’re tasty! So we brewed our fall-spiced hefeweizen with pure pumpkin – a truly delicious fruiveggie!

$2.25 for a single of this. Enjoyed at fridge temp in a tulip. Hazey sort of dark orange but very light. no head at all. Lots of very big fresh pumpkin scent. it’s very pleasant. Taste is the same. Tastes like fresh pumpkin. Nice and balanced, no big dominating spices, semi-sweet finish. 25% carbonation, light body. Very pumpkin-y finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy caramel-brown color with a small soapy orange-white head that left some lacing. The aroma was sour and tangy with moderate nutmeg and cinnamon. The flavor was very bitter and tart with a cider vinegar presence and some nutmeg and cinnamon followed by more vinegar. Long and bitter finish. Medium body. Not good.

Nice but weak aroma of clove and cinnamon, some orange. Clear amber, medium off white head, nice lacing. Thin body. Spices are even less pronounced in the flavor. Pumpkin and allspice. Beery barley malt finish. Sessionable, not overly done.

Purchased a 12 oz bottle @ Julio’s Liquors, Westborough MA. Used a lager glass. Deep amber color with a light orange hue. Full thick head, dissipated and left nice lace. Nose of cinnamon, clove and pumpkin. What sets this one above some others of the style is the heavier, fuller body. Medium body is good for the style. It has a tart or slightly sour pumpkin that I like. I would buy this one again. If you want to try it, get a fresh bottle. It would be nice on draft.

Pours golden amber into a shaker. Off-white head pancakes as it recedes leaving spotted spiders. Pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon aromas. Dry with sour pumpkin, nutmeg and allspice. Lasting earthy pumpkin finish.

Blanchard’s, Allston sixer ($9): Pours a amberish color with a little bit of head. Aroma of cinnoman, nutmeg, and a whiff of beerishness. Basically, this is a somewhat uninteresting pumpkin ale. Kind of spicy. Easily sessionable if you can tolerate the taste of pumpkin beers. Kind of on light side of things.

a little light in color, aroma, and taste, but one of the easier pumpkin ale’s to have more than a couple of. Like most Harpoon’s beers, a little middle of the road, not going to knock your socks off, enjoyable.
