Bottle shared thanks to Jmgreenuk. Pours near black with a ring tan head. Aroma is taken over by woody boozy barrel notes with vanilla, whiskey, floral aspects, chocolate, roast, caramel. Flavour is light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Pretty nice but really taken over by the barrel a little too much.

Had this after in early hours of October 1st, 2014. Best before on the label said September 31st - a non-existing date, but if it existed, that would have been we drunk this. Poured dark with not too lively carbonation. Aroma had some chocolate, cocoa and booze. Mild carbonation made the beer soft and smooth, also leaving the impression that the body was maybe a bit thinner than I expected. Tons of toffee, chocolate and fudge in the aftertaste. Jim Beam from a barrel is there as well but not really defining the beer for me. Nice and interesting one!

From a bottle, shared at ChurchKey, DC, during Zwanze Day. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted grain. Flavors of licorice and tobacco with a bit of funky tartness to it. High carbonation, medium bodied, roasty finish.

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Clear, cola brown. Halo of tan head. Nutty, milk chocolate. Light, roast malt. Light, ground coffee. Taste is fruity dry. Some milk chocolate sweetness. Palate is a tad thin, maybe. More of the chocolate sweetness on the finish, but mostly lingering, light bitter dryness.

330ml bottle [7.4% abv as per label]. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma with hints of oak, leather, a touch of treacle, vanilla, very cautious hints of mustard and freshly compounded concrete. Taste is slightly dry, subtle dark malty sweetness, notes of treacle, vanilla, oak, leather; oily texture, unbelievably smooth, soft, silky and slightly sticky palate. Man! F***ing awesome! Rich like an Impy Stout, comparatively easy drinkable, and so charmingly soft without being flat - excellent!
