Like many American burgs, our town was once home to a number of small, regional breweries. As they disappeared, so too went the full-flavored but easy drinking classic American lager. Today, we salute these bygone breweries and revive their legacy with KC Pils: 100% malt, real hop character, unpasteurized. It’s the taste of tradition.
Boulevard Brewing Company is proud to call Kansas City home. KC’s rich brewing heritage inspires us, and local support sustains us. We dedicate this all-malt, real hop, classic American pilsner to you, KC. Cheers!

Bottle. Hey... it’s a pilsner pour... surprise! Aroma are undecidedly underwhelming with a little grass, some adjunct and biscuit malt. Flavor is pretty solid for the style... a lot of light malt and grass and herbs. Nothing exciting... nothing awful... just beer.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours gold with a foamy white head. Grassy aroma. Medium minus body with mild carbonation. Flavor is pale malt with grassy hop. Not Urquell, but ok. Finishes moderately bitter.

12 oz. bottle, "Best by 06/29/10" HyVee, Storm Lake, IA. Does show its age with a bit of skunk and oxidation in the headspace, but that’s gone once I pour. Bright golden pils color with a fizzy head. Quite clear for a filtered beer. Smell in the glass is just a regular malty beer smell. But the taste is sturdy in its pilsener malt. Not spoiled by adjuncts, as they promise. Packaged in a 12 oz. tall boy instead of Boulevard’s usual stubbies. I guess this is their general purpose beer to compete for convenience store shelf space, and with its own bottling line. And it competes quite well.

This finally showed up in CO - Clear gold/copper pour - moderate carbonation, but a very minimal head - crisp, grassy noble hop aroma, with a bit of dry, crackery maltiness with a wee bit of sweetness hiding underneath - starts fairly crisp and lightly bitter, but a fairly sturdy, moderately sweet maltiness arises through the middle - adds a bit of honey character that compliments the floral notes of the hops - the malt sweetness diminishes a little by the tail end, but still lingers through the finish, keeping it from becoming as dry and crisp as I like my pilsners in the finish - still, quite clean, balanced and pretty damn tasty - a fairly solid german-style pils.

Bottled, from Spokane, WA. Clear golden, small head. Bready malt and grass greets me. Mid-dry with medium body and soft mouthfeel. Pleasantly relaxed with hay-like hops and balanced bitterness. Ah, the joy of quality pilseners in the summer!

DMS smell. Clear golden, headless. Weak and watery. No more imaginative than a macro and poorer quality control.

Sampled at SAVOR 2010. Pours a crystal clear, piss yellow with zero head. Nose is malty and grassy. Flavor is the same, water, light malt, corn. Medium bodied with a lightly crisp finish.

Pour is a bright gold with a average fizzy white head. Aroma is all things grain wih not much of a hop profile. Flavor is at first a very sweet malt followed by some corn and grain. Easy to drink but i thought this would be better.
