Our interpretation of a legendary style is not for the timid. Strong, assertively hoppy and dangerously seductive. A skillful blend of three premium barley malts with generous amounts of Northern Brewer and Cascade Hops creates a special ale to satisfy even the most demanding palate.

Bottled at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Clear amber rich head. Grapefruity nose. Sweet with caramelly crystal malt and fairly light body. The hops soon turns to resin and oilyness, the mouthfeel turns somewhat syrupy. Finishes with piney, resiny bitterness. Decent IPA, although not one that excels anywhere.

Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours with a bit of haze with an orange to gold body along with decent looking off white head. It has a bold aroma of citrus, pine and grassy hops with mild sticky sweet malts. The taste has an even sense of malty sweetness that mixes with mild grapefruit hops, stronger pine hops and grassy hop bitterness. Before midway the bitterness seems to peak before the taste becomes more malty sweet into the finish. Grapefruit and pine hop bitterness seems to resurge and grow in strength some into the after taste.

This one came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy bronze color with a very large dark tan head. The aroma is strong sweet grapefruity hops. The flavor is sharp and crisp fruity hops with moderately strong sour and tangy malts underneath. Solid if unspectacular.

Thanks to Slikwily for this beer. A thick and hazy ipa, it resembles a wheat beer in appearance and looks better than most of the style. ABV is higher than I expected. Full hop aroma. Flavor is herbal hops, some citrus, and all on a substantial malt base. Very good.

Reminds me more of an american strong ale, or even a barleywine - nice herbal aroma, with abundant cherry, strawberry, a touch of caramel - copious spicy hops countered by an aggressive malt profile - orange, grapefruit, strawberry - caramel sweetness, bread, oats - very full and rich, leading me to my comparisons above.

Re-rate 20 February 2006.
On tap at Michigan Brewing Co. Amber-copper body, medium creamy beige head. Nice dense piney citrus rind hops nose leading to a big, chewy body of citrus rind and piney, resiny hops and sweet caramely, toasty malt. Sweet, sticky, and full-bodied. A potent, rich IPA.
Starts with a nice piney hop nose. Dirty orange appearance, with a clumping, creamy off-white head. Flavor is a classic grapefruit-pine pairing, but tangy malts create nice balance from the first sip. Fresh tasting. Neither unique nor uninteresting. Is this really 7% ABV? 7-3-7-3-14

Draft, at MBC taproom. Interesting that Michigan Brewing has 3 pale ales on tap (not counting Celis Pale Bock, which is actually another pale ale). This one is indeed different, though. A good and hoppy character with a fruity, almost sticky mouthfeel. However, I also caught something of a metallic tang in it, but otherwise a solid IPA with a bit of flair.

A robust hoppiness, perhaps lacking thing like style or subtlety, but I'll take it.
