This is an American IPA fermented with our house strain of Belgian yeast. The beer has a soft copper body, malty and balanced with 70 IBU from our Columbus bittering hop addition. The hops then transition into flavoring hop additions during the last 30 minutes of brewing. At the end of the brew we add buckets full of aroma hops and ferment at a warm temperature. Then to capture even more hop flavors and aromas we poured more buckets full of hops directly into the beer (dry hop) and allow the beer to rest and absorb all the delicious hop goodness.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 2/24/12
Aroma: The nose has some nice citrus/grapefruit, with some lemon, pine, Belgian yeast, and spice
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear dark orange color with a small bubbly white head and light lace
Flavor: Tastes less "bright" then the nose, rather yeasty, with some light sweetness, and medium bitterness
Palate: It's body is fairly light for the style, it has a low carbonation, is quite smooth and highly drinkable
Overall Impression: I thought that this one was going to be more exciting then it turned out to be. The nose made me think I was going to be drinking a beer with a bright grapefruit/citrus feel, but the beer I got had much less of that in the flavor. It was still present, but the flavor was yeastier then it was citrusy. It's still a decent beer, but the expectations from the nose are not quite met.

Bottle. Deep golden color, reluctant off white head with poor retention. Aroma of grass and crab grass. Taste is extremely bitter with just a tad of citrus and funk. Interesting. Better as it warms.

Pours deep amber into snifter. Off-white conglomerate head with excellent retention leaves spot lacing as it recedes to coat surface. Orange citrus and yeasty hay aromas. Dry with caramel and bread upfront turning to dough before a lasting pine and citrus finish.

Bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. Amber colour, big to moderate off-white head. Hoppy aroma and flavour (Columbus hops), the flavour also has spicy notes with hints of Belgian ale yeast, otherwise this is a fairly standard American IPA (which is not a bad thing).

Bottle at Funky 6. Porus cloudy amber with a modest, off-white head. Holds a nice citrus hop aroma with some malts and yeast. Fairly sweet with light caramel and some pine and fruit hops. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with some malty sweetness, Belgian yeast and lingering bitterness. Good stuff.

A reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, alcohol, light caramel, hops, and more hops. In mouth, stringent hops fight against the herbs and spices, overpowering, not bad, but over the top offering. On tap at American Flat Bread, Jan. 11 2010.

Courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours deep gold with white head. The aroma is hoppy with grapefruit mixing with sweet malts and mild Belgian yeastiness. This is a nice hoppy citrus brew with Belgian yeast spices sort of as an undertone. By midway a solid hoppy goodness persists with the Belgian yeast notes only assisting and staying out of the way of the nice hoppy flavors.
