An amber beer with no head. The aroma is very light with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with quite a lot of caramel, but also a good hop presence.

Nice amber color with a pretty big frothy head that is starting to lace well. Aromas are of apple, fresh bread, light caramel, with a bit of cumin (?) in the background. This is a unique aroma... worth opening just for the scents. Flavor is punctuated by crisp hops, but there is a slight bitter/sour character that is a little off, with the hops picking up some of the slack at the end, but it still doesn’t sit quite right...

Bottle. I’ve come to re-rate this beer after a long time away from it. After having another one I realize it’s been far too long since I had it last. Light golden color, with a wonderful hoppy aroma. The flavor is fantastic. The hops are powerful, and I’d hazard to guess that this beer is closer to an IPA, but I certainly understand and can see the APA aspects of this as well. Orginial rating was a 3.6.

This was a fairly hoppy cask ale. Poured a dark golden brown, with a off white head.

Bottle
Grassy and piney nose. Amber, low carbonation, low head. Grass, herbal, piney hop flavors - good balance. Medium body, sparkly mouthfeel. Straw and and herbal pine aftertaste.

7/2004 bottling date. First off, thanks to Ben (btg) for this bonus beer, what a treat. Pours a moderately cloudy vibrant orange/amber. Good creamy white head and a big bountiful hops aroma. Lots of citrus (orange and grapefruit) some hints of light pale malts, hints of spiciness as well as some creamy sweetness that adds appeal. Flavor starts out with a big bitter hops explosion, but then evens out somewhat with plenty of malt. Finish is quite dry with a hint of plastic and ethanol. Very flavorful overall, and well-made. Easy comparison to Sierra Nevada Pale, though in the end, I would prefer the Sierra’s extra yeast profile and grainier, chewier texture. Very drinkable beer though.

This is my first product from this brewery. I have seen it a few times but this was my first chance to try some. As luck would have it this beer was on the cask engine. It poured an orange-amber color with a small creamy white head that lingered for quite a while and produced some lacing. The aroma is sweet, flowery and hoppy. The flavor is sweet with a strong hop presence. The hops are strong but not overwhelming. The sweetness balances the hop bitterness quite nicely and the malts come on lightly on the finish. Now I just have to manage to get a hold of the bottle and regular draft.

This pours a pretty copper colored beer with a bit of chill haze and a creamy head that could have lasted a little longer. It has a wonderful citrus hop aroma with a good malt background. The flavor is somewhat sweet with all of the bitterness saved for the finish. Dry palate with good body. This needed just a bit more hop flavor to match up with the hop aroma.

Thanks to Darkover for the trade. Pours a nice dark bronze/amber color with a thin off-white head. Delicate, thin lacing throughout the glass. The aroma has an intriguing sweetness underneath the hops and citrus. Medium-bodied with a full hops flavor, along with malt, fruit and candy. The finish is crisp and lightly astringent hops and citrus. This is one of the better APAs I have tried in awhile.

Appearance: Nice medium amber color with a small head. Smell: Very hoppy in the nose. Nice. Tastes like hops on top of coffee. It's an interesting beer, but not really great. I'd drink this beer again, but only if the bar didn't offer anything better...
