This barley wine is a blend of multiple batches of beer which were aged in different spirits oak barrels. Its complex aroma and taste of oak, dark and sweet caramel, dark fruits and berries is a product of a complex brewing combined with the long of time spent in oak barrels. It will cellar very well, but do not go into decades of ageing... It is a sipper and perfect to share on a special occasion.

8 3 8 4 16 Draft at Planet Oedipus ’17. Dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of caramel, oak barrel, vanilla, molasses, toffee, meaty notes, sultanas and overripe dark fruits. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Bourbon nose, mild wood. Smooth palate, quite light and mildly dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, touches of dark chocolate and toffee. Fruity bourbon dominates. Bitterish wood. Hard to tell what other barrels have been used, brandy I think, maybe a little rum. Finishes with some brown sugar and a whisper of coconut. Warming afterglow. Pretty tasty.

Bottle from Drinkshop. Great beer. High sweetness is balanced by assertive alcohol, not boozy at all though. Loads of dried fruits, chocolate, raisins, toffee. Sipper. Great beer.

Bottle kindly shared by Gurthnar, many thanks. Dark brown color with minimal beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, alcohol. Taste, coffee, dark malt, coconut, ripe fruits. Tasty.

Bottle. Huge bourbon nose, vanilla, buts, cherries, wood. Flat dark black. Flavor is complex, with vanilla, cream, cinnamon, cherry. Light and airy, with low carbonation and no booze noticeable. Mild, balanced, lovely.

Dark brown color. Big sweet nose of caramel, tootsie roll, milk chocolate, white spirits and a touch of oak. Big tootsie roll, oak, vanilla, red wine, dark cherries, stew oranges, some what boozy but light body. Amazing depth. Slightly sour. Really good stuff

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma has vanilla, red fruit, bourbon booze, oak, ripe fruit, caramel and molasses. Flavor has red fruit, bourbon vanilla, buttery caramel, raisin, soft burning booze, fudge, dates, oak and a little smoke. Touch of peat in the finish. Really rich and very delicious. And indeed different from the previous hagger.

On tap at TCBW 2017. Dark, dar mahogany coloured with a beige head. Sweet, fruity and mal malty with notes of wood, alcohol and caramel. Sweet and fairly complex with interesting flavours, not right up my alley, but certainly enjoyable enough.

Bottle @ van Moll, blend 1116, 15 cl sample. Dark cooor, short frothy head. Aroma of bourbon and vanille, lots of cookie malt and some caramel. Great complexity. Quite a lot of cookie sweetness in taste, together with smooth vanilla and barrel. Delicious.
