Courtesy of markwise. It pours sort of amber-ish with thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up some sweet molasses notes and then slides into a bit of pine hops like bitter aromas thinly ringed with a touch of roasted malts. The taste comes across unnervingly similar with a modest degree of sweet malts and slight molasses sense heading into a mix of various roasted malts and pine hops midway and into the finish. Pretty nice but a bit restrained to be burning bridges with.

Tap at The Pony Bar UES, NYC. Dark brown pour with a sturday, beige foam head. Light roast in the nose, some coffee. Very faint spiciness throughout with lightly tangy berries and modest roast. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Faint warmth to finish, further dark malts and semi-dark fruits. Nice beer.

22 oz. bottle, pours a dark reddish brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of resinous hops upfront, lots of caramel malts and some candied sugar. Flavour of brown sugar, caramel malts and a delightful hop punch - very well-balanced. Nothing unique or adventurous, but very well-made, flavourful beer. Good.

22 oz bottle purchased at The Four Firkins in St Louis Park, Minnesota. The pour is a hazed brown burgundy with a solid three inch light khaki head. The head breaks up into foam bubbles, then recedes with coating splotchy lacing. The aroma is resin earthy bitter hops, some citrus fruit and pine hop and a toasty mildly fruit sweet malt. The taste is initially a mix between lightly syrup sweet malt and big resin hops. Pretty huge flavors, not really in any nuanced. The bitterness and pine are present, as well as a decent blast of alcohol heat. As the beer warms, some vanilla comes out as well. The palate is slick, medium bodied, with a lower carbonation level. The finish and aftertaste are resinous, dry and a bit boozy. This one was pretty aggressive.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown appearance with a milky, light brown head. Toasty, chocolate, slightly spicy, a touch fruity aroma. A little spicy, slightly piney hoppy, roasty, dark malty flavor. Not all that exciting.

Bottle thanks to kaggie at August tasting. Pours a dark amber with a small off white head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is raisin malt with caramel. Medium mouthfeel with a rich malt and light roast. A good American strong ale from Lakefront.

22oz bottle pours a nearly opaque, dark brown with some spitty, white head. Nose is all barleywine, malty, crackers, caramel, oranges, a little booze. Flavor is malty, apples, caramel, crackers, brown sugar, bread. Full bodied, dry finish. Not bad.
