The Triple is a strong, full-bodied Belgian abbey-style ale. The authentic Belgian yeast strain used in fermentation contributes to a rich array of spicy, phenolic, and fruit-like flavors and noticeable alcoholic warmth. This unfiltered ale has an irresistible pale orange-colored hazy glow.

Pours hazy yellow orange with off white head. Aromas of bananas, dough and spices. Sweet flavor with spices and yeast. Medium body with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, but there are so many better triples easily available.

NIce banana aroma, not strong. Cloudy amber, floaties, no head. Orange, lemon, and clove flavor. Great cilantro finish. Medium body, slightly phenolic, well balanced.

These american abbey tripel imitations really make the Abbey Tripel style quite common. The abbey tripels come in two types; the in your face and the refined gentle. This one is the in your face. Cannot hold a candle to Grimbergen Blonde or Chimay White. From a growler that was filled at the Beer Store in Moon. Sweet strong ale aroma, big foamy head. Initial palate is flat, no carbonation. Very alcoholic. A little rude and unrefined. Color is off yellow and I think I can see some haze. If not, I’ll see some haze after this growler is gone. Finish is lingering volatile alcohol. Sometimes I think many american tripels should be reclassified as malt liquor.

750mL bottle, 2003 vintage, drunk on 5/26/07
Arg! Another one of these STUPID aging experiments. Just like the Cazeau Tournay, this wasn’t bad, but definitely didn’t gain anything from aging (I’ve had this one fresh on tap, so I could tell). It also didnt really lose much, however, still being in tolerable condition. The beer is chalk full of specialty malt notes, very toasty and extremely bready, with lots of tart-like yellow fruits (heavy peaches and bananas) and plentiful acidity (relative to the style) on the finish.
A very deep golden-bronze color, somewhat darker than your average trippel, but bottle conditioned nicely and still producing a medium-sized head that is somewhat well-retained and laces minimally
It smells quite musty at this point, with some earthiness, dustiness and mustiness from the yeast and slightly tired malt character. A touch of oxidation giving off a powdered sugar note, that seems to occur with most trippels.
In the end, it’s another one of these Weizen-trippels, as I shall call them, that taste somewhere between a (IMHO) nicely dry, heavily pilsner-malted strong golden trippel and a strong German weizen. It has ALOT of peaches and bananas, too much for my liking. The breadiness dosent help out either. Both the draught and bottle versions were somewhat thin on the end as well. Medium body at this point in time, though significantly sweeter when fresh (too sweet, probably). Alcohol well-concealed.

bottle - Pours dark amber with a moderate head. Citrus, yeast, and malt aroma. The flavor is sweet with some mild spice and citrus. Medium bodied and rather lively on the palate, it goes down easily with a warming 9% abv.

Bottle courtesy of Adrian910ss: Poured a medium golden color ale with a small white bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma of sweet malt with some alcohol. Taste is way too sweet for the style with some warming alcohol which didn’t really fit in there. Body was about average with some medium to low carbonation. Overall, I thought this beer was definitely off the style and way too sweet with some burning alcohol.

765ml bottle vintage date 7/30/03. Poured into small goblet glass. Firstly, I am not sure how similar these old bottles recipes are to the new 12 oz bottles. Secondly, I love the extra 15 ozs and the old labels are so much better than the new 12oz labels. But I guess change happens and those who dont like it get stuck in the past. So first thing I could say is that its a dark tripel. This is not unheard of but interesting. Again, I have never had the 12 oz bottle but this is a dark amber color. Even though popping the cap a lot of guess seemed to erupt there is no head and just some minimal lacing. Aroma is strong, high on maltiness. Actually, I would never even guess this is a Tripel. The age is definitely evidenced in the aroma. There is a pruney-raisony-alchy aroma reminiscent of aged barleywines in the aroma. It is definitely spicey and fruity in the prune aspect. Taste has got some melon like characters in it but mainly again a pruney-cookiedough flavor emerges from the malt. Again, the age has turned this into an unrecognizable tripel. I feel some oxidization or what just seems as a degradation of the beer. But still very drinkable and I’d say still cellarable for a few more years. It has a yeasty feel throughout. Leaves a sweet spiced aftertaste. The carbonation is low and bitterness is low.

Thanks to CaptainCougar for sending this to Richmond. Cloudy orange color with some mild chunkiness and a small creamy white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and some light fruit. Lots of caramel in the flavor, with a bready and fruity flavor in the background.

Hazy light orange color with small white head. Strong sweet brown sugar, molasses and malt aroma. Tastes just as it smells with strong sweet flavor, high carbonation, that Belguim yeast/spice and malt. I don’t detect much in the way of hop flavor or bitterness.
