Sheep Shagger Scotch Ale is rich, malty and full-bodied. Brewed with specialty roasted malts for a complex blend of caramel and toffee flavors and a subtle peaty character. So true to its style, Sheep Shagger is a malt-forward wee heavy showcasing barley, with slight peated notes reminiscent of your favorite whiskey.

Bottled on 19 Nov 2015. Brown toast malt smell under the nose. Just a tiny bit of Scotch peat. But the peaty note does get stronger as the beer spreads out in the glass. Hazy brown body with lots of floaties in it. Taste has plenty of malt, just a little smoke, and warming alcohol. No phenol found, this beer has aged very well, but is gladly enjoyed right now.

Bottle thanks to Paul. Pours a clear copper orange with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is peat, caramel, wood. Medium mouth, rich malt, caramel, peat, raisin, light booze, very good.

Nice solid Scotch Ale. I wonder what it would taste like without the Bourbon barrel aging?

Bottle. Clear, deep amber body. Fizzy, off-white head rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, toffee and a hint of raw grain. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Lots of malt flavor. The sweet caramel is balanced by peaty, toasted grain in the flavor. Some hints of herbal hops.

Bottle from Liz. Pours dark amber with a slight beige head. Aromas of heavily roasted malt and some floral hop. Full bodied. Flavor is roasted malt, lightly smoky, almost peaty, with floral hop. It’s almost sweet, not too bitter. Somehow it all comes together in an amazing taste treat. Very, very, tasty.

Bottle thanks to mar. Pours with a very small tan head, low carbonation over a copper hued body. Aromas are sweet, vanillia, molasses, brown sugar, clean, malty. Flavors are of cereal grainy, malty, caramel, light melanoidin, low smoke. Clean yeast wise. Low carbonation. Fuller body with a bit of a sweet finish.
