Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is cocoa and roasted malts. Thin mouth, chocolate, toasted malt, ash, boozy, decent.

Bottle. A- Cocoa, subtle rye. A- Black color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Rye, cocoa, malty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- All around this was a solid porter. But as good as it was, it was pretty one dimensional. Again, hard to complain but hard to love.

Black with a creamy beige head. Aroma is pretty standard porter. Flavor is similar with a healthy dose of earth notes. Not a lot in the way of rye spice. Pretty solid porter but I wish the rye was more prominent.

Bottle shared by Jcwattsrugger. Pours black with brown head. Nose and taste of rye, molasses, smoked chocolate and burnt coffee. Dryish bitter finish. Body on lighter side of medium.

Bottle. Deep brown body with a short, frothy beige head, diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, rye, caramel, molasses, coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Strong malty/rye taste with coffee bitterness. Dry finish. At the same time it’s right on the edge of being harsh, ashy.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of pepsican. Thanks! Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of big rye notes, roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. The taste is bitter rye, bitter hops and bitter roast. Faint lingering bitterness, medium bodied, low carbonation. Nice beer.

Unusual aroma of peanut butter. Brown color, of course. Flavor is less interesting, but no flaws0. A fine porter.

Bottle, $3 each at Peace Tree because I didn’t want to slow myself down with a sample tray. Pours a solid, dark brown porter color with a big than head. Sweet chocolate smell with a little bit of wheat or rye spice for backup. Taste carries through on the advertisement of the smell: More chocolate roast malt, but smooth with just a note of harsh roastiness. Despite claims of added Belgian sugar, this finishes out a bit dry, and a note of Guinness sourness creeps in. Spices from the rye and yeast work together. A more hearty brew, if it were lower in abv, it could be a session stout. But instead it’s definitely a beer for those doing heavy lifting.
