A rich, chocolatey English Porter with a clean finish. We use the finest floor-malted Maris Otter malts from England, the same malts used for the best single-malt scotch. A portion of malted rye gives a spicy, slightly dry finish.

Bottle. Deep, dark brown with a tan head. Dark chocolate taste and dark chocolate aroma. This is a really good Porter.

12 oz. bottle from Kroger in Brentwood, TN. Pours a very dark brown cola color with ruby highlights and a tight tan head and excellent retention. Good lacing. Nutty dark malts aroma. Likewise, mostly flavors of dark malts with light nuttiness and no real porter flavor. More like a dark lager or a light brown ale. Very smooth and clean mouthfeel. A bit thin for a porter. Low carbonation. Not bitter. It may not be a great porter, but I like it.

Draft at Yazoo. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of off-white foam that dissipates. Cocoa powder aromas with bakers chocolate & ovaltine notes as it warms. Creamy palate, toasty nutty cacao note that lingers on the palate. Not overly bitter & well balanced. Solid porter.

Draught @ the brewery. Dark brown, light chocolate, soft body. Mellow. Ok porter, not much rye.

Bottle. Black pour with a minimal tan head. The aroma is burnt coffee and a bit of spice. The flavor is roasty and bitter.

Light roast and some sharp grainy rye like black bread. Black pour with decent head. Bitter fibish. Some caramel. Bittersweet finish. Tap at brewery.

Not sure what’s going on here, but this bottle pours one of the ugliest glasses of beer I’ve seen in a while. Decent color, sure, but with a tiny head that disappears almost immediately and no lacing whatsoever. Looks kinda like flat Dr. Pepper. Not good. Smells better, with notes of chocolate and coffee, and the taste is okay, offering a good dose of cocoa-laced roasted malt and a slight cherry tang, Finishes with a modest mocha and peat-laced sweetness. Not picking up much rye, and the texture is in dire need of some antidepressants. Pass.

Refrigerated 12 oz. short brown bottle poured into a glass. Black with dark brow highlights and medium beige head. Aroma is nice dark malt, medium body, medium carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is rich dark malt, milk chocolate, and hints of rye. Expected just average beer, but Yazoo delivers another good beer.

Draft. Light rye malt and hay aroma. Dark brown with small head. Sweet chocolate-caramel rye malt and lightly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Smooth.
