22oz bomber shared by Willrunforbeer on 8/3/24. 2012 May bottling. Clear golden. No head. Malty still, clean, not crude with the yeast profile. Mild spice, mild yellow fruit. Very easygoing. No oxidation in the nose. Candi sugar, vanilla, honey and hints of mild oxidation with yellow fruit and spice. Medium bodied, not quite over-attenuated. No sign of alcohol.
May 2012 Thanks Brian another gem from the infinite cellar. Aroma is fruity esters, caramel. Taste follows aroma. Held up nicely.

Pour is a bright golden with a small white head. Aroma is a decent spice with some bubblegum and yeasty esters. Flavor is some pale malt, candi sugar and juniper berry. This is not very carbonated for a triple. Finish is kind of a dull sweet pale malt. Overall kinda just ok. Going in the right direction but this is almost flat even though it’s well within the best buy date.

Sample at Pint House during a tap takeover. Cloudy golden pour with a medium thick and foamy white head that dissipates slowly. Patches of lacing. The aroma consists of yeast, banana and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of grainy malt, citrus, malt and bananas. The finish is fruity with a bubblegum and yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Lemon, malt. and alcohol aroma. Cloudy golden with a small off-white head, light lacing. Strong yeasty, lactic, banana, weedy bitter, and alcohol flavor. Medium body.

Capped 750 from LIz. Pours tarnished gold with a 4 finger creamy/bubbly white head. Aroma is citric, banana, pepper, and perhaps bubble gum. Med + body. Bubble gum comes up front, with banana and pepper. Citrus. Spice. Wonderful roast malt. Super! Brilliant. It’s the quintessential Belgian strong ale.

Bottle. Lemon and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet lemon and moderately bitter herbal/quinine flavor. Not bad but nothing here to get excited about.

22 ounce bottle into chalice, notched bottle date of Feb 2010(almost 2 years old). Pours very hazy golden straw color with a fairly dense 1 finger white head with good retention that reduces to a thin lacing cap that lasts. Slight bits of lacing cling to the glass. Good amount of carbonation streaming up from the bottom. Aromas of big bread, lemon zest, pepper, banana, apple, light caramel, orange, spicy yeast and a bit of alcohol. Nice and balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of big lemon, banana, clove, pepper, bread, apple, grape, tart graininess, candi sugar, and spicy yeast. No bitterness; with lingering notes of pepper, bread, citrus, banana, and spicy yeast on the finish for a bit. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that drinks quite easily but is still a sipper at 9%. No alcohol other than a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is a surprisingly very nice and enjoyable Tripel. Good balance of flavors with smooth drinkability for the level of alcohol.

Sampled at DLD back in April. Very dregs of the bottle pours a cloudy yellow. Sweet smell of Belgian malt and hops. Kind of sugary. Way overstepping my carb allotment for the day, but this just feel so good doing it. That’s about all I can say about this after 30 samples.
