You are holding the inaugural release in a multi-year brewing experiment-to brew a series of beers as diverse as the great state of New Jersey.
Our theme is the state-long artery that connects us. Each beer will focus on the unique aspect of an individual exit, whether an ingredient or event. The journey begins at Exit 4- right up the street from the Flying Fish brewery.
As one of the first craft brewers to embrace Belgian-style beers, we’ve chosen to start with a Belgian trippel, finished with plenty of American hops.
Note the hazy golden hue and the aroma of citrus with hints of banana and clove. Then taste the Belgian malt flavors and a subdued bitterness in the finish. Bottle conditioned, this beer will develop as it ages. Enjoy.
Malts: Malto Franco-Belge Pils Malt, Weyerman Acidulated, White Wheat, Demerara Sugar
Hops: Simcoe, Columbus, Palisades, Amarillo
Yeast: Belgian Abbey
Original Gravity: 21.5 Plato

12oz bottle pours clear copper with thin off white head. The first impression of the aroma, just after popping the cap, hey is this a sweet citrus IPA? A deeper inspection reveals rich sweet citrus along with hints of dark fruity esters and a sense of banana. The taste is pleasingly sweet citrus IPA like, yum. I only get hints of yeasty spices, faint dark fruity esters and nearly a sense of banana if I concentrate. Very nice stuff with hardly a sense of the big ABV. This is my kind of Trippel (full up IPA).

Odd tripel but one that I ultimately enjoyed. This beer definitely isn’t brewed to style. It’s got a definite citric hop flavor and more bubblegum/banana than you’ll find in any Belgian tripel that I’ve tried. The aroma also has a lot of honeyed malt, which also shows up the taste. Quite sweet - something I wouldn’t normally like but it sorta works for this beer as a nightcap. Some booziness, some nearly sickly sweetness. Mouthfeel is not quite as sticky as the sweetness would suggest but still a bit much. Rated to style, I’d go a notch lower on appearance - the head is too small and dissipates relatively quickly - but it’s still a nice clear gold with a small white cap, which is just fine.

Bottle courtesy of Steve In New Jersey, cheers mate! Slightly hazy yellowish golden pour with a mid sized dissipating white head . Fragrant nose with belgian yeast, piney hop and a hint of spice in attendance. Flavour was a pleasant surprise and struck a good balance with the sweetness and hops mingling to good effect. Alcohol pretty well masked. This was better than a lot of Belgian Tripels I’ve tasted and a very decent and interesting take on the style. Nice brew from Sopranoland !

12oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color, with a fluffy white head. Aroma was pretty strong on the citrus hops, pretty clean, floral. Flavor was very hoppy for a tripel, quite a nice beer!

Location: 12 oz bottle at RFD, 3/6/10
Aroma: Citrus fruits, yeast, spice, and pine
Appearance: Golden-orange color with a small white head
Flavor: Fruity and yeasty with a good amount of hops to it
Palate: Light-medium body, a bit thin, and relatively hot
Overall Impression: A solid beer. My 2nd sampling of one of the FF Exit series beers, and both have been pretty solid, so I'm looking forward to getting a hold of a few more of them. Them one wasn't exactly what you'd expect from the style, but a nice beer none-the-less.

750 ml bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Pour is a cloudy orange amber with floaties and a one inch white head that falls pretty quickly. Aroma is clove yeast and honey sweetness. Behind that initial aroma is a nice straw element which integrates nicely with the yeast and sweetness. Taste reverses, and starts with the straw, quickly moving to the clove from the yeast and the light honey malt sweetness. Taste is a bit disjointed, not as smooth or integrated as the nose. Palate is medium, oily and mouth coating. Light carbonation, overall an easy to drink Trippel. Nice one, thanks for sharing this Eugene.
