Nice crystal clear lightish golden coloured body with a dense three-centimetre tall white head. Aroma of pale malt, light grassy hops, apricots and a touch of fake sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive maltiness with a grassy and slightly bitter and drying finish. Aftertaste shows a lot of herbal notes, some alcohol and a surprising amount of body, given the style. Overall, a nice kolsch and actually pretty different than most in the style - nice to try, especially those who like lighter beers and lagers! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 13-May-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 04-June-2010.

bottle - Pours clear gold with a very thin white head. It has a light malt aroma. The flavor is light and sweet with a touch of hops and a touch of fruit character. It’s light bodied as expected for the style and finishes clean. Not bad.

Bottle. Clear light golden body with a fizzy white head. Sweet, malty aroma with a hint of floral hops and honey. A bit of breadiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes much the same. Dry. Medium body with a watery texture that turns a bit sticky in the finish. Lively carbonation and despite that, the carbonation is not lively enough to wash down the slightly syrupy sweetness. A nice, easy drinking beer. It’s in the ballpark alcohol wise to be a session beer, but it’s a little too sweet and a little too sticky for the style.

Bottle on 11/28/2008 in the Great Butters Tasting of 2008. Very slightly hazy golden body with a large frothy white head. Sweet corn and honey aroma. Sweet corn, light grain and honey flavor, some bready, slightly nutty hints. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle from the Beergeek. Amber gold, nearly orange, color with a minimal white head. Aroma of mild malt and light, fruity hop. Near medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is a bit caramel, which seems odd for the style, and the hop is quite light, just enough for balance, which seems right for the style. About as light and smooth as kolsch should be, just a bit too much malt.

12 oz. Bottle. Pour is golden, though a pretty dark gold. Aroma is wet grass and a touch of sweetness. The taste is clean and bright, with the hay and grass notes expected. The sweetness was in the taste as well, though I expected a bit more from the aroma. Overall, a nice drinkable summer beer, though I have had better Kölschs.

Pours straw color with white head that laces nicely as it dissipates. Aroma is decidedly grassy with slight foreshadow of the sour bite that comes through in the taste. Taste is pretty light. Odd sour vibe comes through, but it compliments the overall light feel well. Refreshing for summer!

Draft, Soulard Ale House, St. Louis. A thin head atop some sticky golden malt gives it more of an Oktoberfest feel. But there’s a flavorful hop profile that gives it a nice peppery note atop a trace of citrus. Very refreshing.
