A deep amber ale with a rich and smooth flavor. Malty undertones of vanilla and caramel are kept in check with the addition of Magnum, Golding and Fuggles hops.

Bottle: Poured a light copper color ale with a nice of-white foamy head with good retention and no lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt is surprising and quite enjoyable. Taste is a mix between some deep caramel malt with some light toffee notes and no discernable hops presence. I wasnโt expecting much for this one but I was quite surprise โ the grain bill was perfect and quite dominant or more so then most beer form this sometime boring style.

Have had this many times, it’s one of my favorite session beers but I’ve never had a chance to rate it before now. Actually had this on tap at Chef Geoff’s Downtown in Washington D.C. Served in a pint glass with a thin, ringing slightly beige head and a deep, maple brown translucent body. Aroma is fairly standard, nutty, grainy, brown sugar, caramel, and maybe a touch or orange peel. Flavor is very nice, crunchy roasted nuts, dark brown bread, caramel chews and more orange peel. Finish is dry but light and slightly sweet. Great session beer, great dinner beer. Won’t knock your socks off but a pleaser for any occasion.

This brown ale poured a deep copper colour with a short lived foamy off white head. to the nose there are scents of brown sugar, figs, cream and caramel. First sip was a bit weak with a strong iced tea flavour. A little hop with asweet finish. Palate is iced tea and hopps with a lingering bitterness.

On tap. Pour amber/nutty. Aroma is roasted, nutty malt with notes of coffee. Enjoyed it quite a bit.

Bottle. Medium brown with a sizeable head. Decent lacing. Sweetish malty aroma. Taste very much the same, with green apple and Belgian yeast notes?!?!?!? Weird.

Coppery color, it donโt look like no brown ale now way no how. Off-white head. Weird dry smell. Interesting, though not necessarily good taste. It kind of turned me off. Maybe it was the hint of cherry and black currant. Strange. I donโt think I like it.

Bottle. Poured ruby red with foamy white head. Malty, spicy aroma with some oil. Light to medium body, nutty and nutmeggy flavour. Lasting nutty finish.

Deep nutty, earthy, malty aroma. Ruby tinged amber color with a beige head that flattened with a small amount of lacing. Medium bodied. Creamy carbonation. Suggests dirt for flavor. Oh, make that earthy. This is gritty, roasted malt. Itโs not caramel; itโs not toffee. Itโs roasted nut with a light touch of cacao. A lot smoother than many American browns. The finish is arguably a bit dry, and there is some mild bitter. Mostly it is that gritty old American brown nutty maltiness. Better than very many of the style.

Pour is a dark brown with an average white head. Aroma is a roasted sweetness. That makes no sence but its what i got. Flavor is much better. Some chocolate and roasted nuts with a bit of black licorice. A decent brown and better than i was expecting.

Nutty aroma. Very dark copper color, not exactly brown. Thick creamy head. Nicely balanced chocolate and hops. Weak finish.
