From Mar 2006
Poured from bottle (room temp) a hazy reddish gold with a large head of foam that dissipated slowly leaving an ample layer with some lacing.
The smell is very fruity with citrus notes and pine.
The taste is dominated by citrus up front but then some caramel sweetness moves in to balance it out. The finish returns to bitterness but it's not at all intense.
Bottom line: An interesting interpretation of an American IPA with a taste that's off the beaten track a bit but it doesn't really strike my palate in a way that would make me want to buy this very often. Hehe...I guess that's why it's a seasonal. ;^)

Copper. Bright citrus with sweet malt. Finish is sweet and bright with light candied tropical fruit. Medium bodied. Very enjoyable.

Poured from a bomber. Dark amber body with small silky head. Immediate aroma of piney hops, some caramel. Taste is mostly hops but not to much, balance is perfect) with some caramel and malt sweetness, and is touch of winter spice (nutmeg?). This is what I love about the holidays!

Bottle from Urban Wine Cellars, Baltimore. Deep amber with a decent, off-white head. Citrus hops, spice and fruitcake aroma. Flavour had some bready malts, orange and dried fruits, leading to a dryish finish. Drinkable.

Another disappointing beer from full sail. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a trace tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was a bit skunky with sweetish caramel. The flavor was bitter and tangy with notes of citrus, pine and a hint of skunk. Medium length dryish finish with lingering caramel and floral hops. Medium body. Eh.

Bottle shared with Sander at his place, NYC. Pours clear orange with a slight, white foam head. Mild pine and grapefruit in the nose. Medium sweet flavor, light caramel, leaves, gritty pine bitterness, some tropical fruits. Medium bodied with mouth-filling carbonation. Lingering bitter finish, lots of grapefuit rind and dirt, some sweet citrus. Not bad.

Bottle at tasting, pours a hazy orange with a minimal white head. Aroma of mandarin oranges, citrusy hops, cotton candy and minimal caramel malt backing. Flavour of diminished / muted citrusy hops, oranges, a bit of candy, and little malt backing. Was this kept too long? - not sure of the bottling date. Either way, nothing too interesting here. Poorly balanced, but enjoyable for what it is.

22oz bottle. Poured a slightly hazy orange color with a mostly white head. Aroma was heavy citrus (grapefruit, touch of orange zest). Flavor is very very hoppy - very very enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours caramel brown with off white head. Nose/taste of caramel, hops, pine and spicy hops. Some harsh dark grains and tree sap in the bitter finish. Medium body.

Floral nose of marigolds and lillies, approaching that of cat urine. Clear copper, medium pale yellow head, beautiful lacing. Flavor is the same as the aroma but with the addition of rosehips. Brilliant use of hops to achieve the objective of a winter IPA. Decent balance, but not very intense.
