A banging Imperial Stout brewed with prunes, vanilla, and habanero chillies.

Taste: Dark chocolate and dried prunes come out first, followed by a strong Turkish coffee and stewed blackcurrant jam. Vanilla supports, followed by a long, lingering — BÄNG — from the chilli. Just enough to shock your tastebuds and leave you wanting more.

Bottle pour from Beer and Wine Nation. It's an opaque inky dark brown (virtually black) with nice sparkle, thin cap of light brown head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong sweet and earthy malt, prunes, vanilla. Taste follows aroma with a bit of booze along with some chili spice and heat. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, average carbonation, chili/alcohol heat and dry, roasty finish. Overall, the chili is in the flavor but not the aroma. Another strong flavored stout from this brewer!

Bottle, huge thx Hrabren. Pitch black body, tan head, tiny, semi-lasting. Big estery aroma, primarily old banana, some vague chili, oily, lightly caramelly. Soft, lean, dry, bitter, nutty, caramelly, roasty, banana, prunes, creamy, bitterish, very warming alcohol. Vanilla maybe as something to correct this. Clasically good Pohjala, if a bit too rough. Actually, way too rough.

0.33 l bottle shared with Marko. Dark brown to black, small head. Intense sugary chocolate aroma, some leather, some soy sauce. Dark cherry, some dried fruit. A touch of chilli pepper. Molasses. Full body, soft texture. A sipper. Quite sweet, very roasty, burnt, heavily sweet chocolate. Nutty, molasses. Very full, alcohol hidden, bo chilli heat. Moderate finish.

From a 330ml bottle on 20/8/2022 (shared with Butz). Pours near black with a medium tan head. Smelsls of chocolate with hints of dark fruit. Tastes of dark chocolate and you get the prunes and a touch of vanilla. The chilli is definitely there in the finish, but is never unwelcome or intrusive. The palate is oily the carbonation moderate. Nice stuff, particularly if you're keen on some subtle heat.

Bottle. A brief tan coat on a very black beer. Aroma of rich fudgy mocha, hints of chilli and other spices. And that's pretty much how it tastes - there's a low end rumble of roast, stewed fruit and mocha then a finish that's a little bitter and quite spicy. The chilli is really immaculately judged - it takes a while to fight its way through the sweetness but then it's brightly fruity and has a spiciness that starts to wind up.

Black with a minimal light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, spices and some smoke sense. Sweet with a chocolate, vanilla, caramel and again ends with some smoke finish.

The original bänger! I've had many excellent versions of this beer, now finally rating the original! A very nice imperial stout where the vanilla prunes and chili are nicely showcased. I prefer some of the other versions, but this is excellent.
