Ons tarwebier (witbier) of zoals de Duitsers zeggen ‘ein hefe weißen’ is een zeer zacht fruitig bier. Kruidige geuren maar ook een zachte toon van banaan en kruidnagel is herkenbaar in dit type bier. De gist die wij hierin gebruiken is erg belangrijk voor de smaak van onze weizen.
Our wheat beer, or as the Germans would say, “ein Hefeweizen” is a very lightly fruity beer. Spices in the nose but also a soft note of banana and cloves are key characteristics in this style of beer. The type of yeast we use is also essential to our weizen’s particular flavour.

33 cl bottle @ Prael Proeflokaal, BBE 06/2015. Aroma is a bit odd with yeasty tones and banana esthers. Also hints of hay. Flavour has tart citrus, some apricot, bubblegum and yeasty tones. Short and tart taste - a case of hefeweizen too watery. Somewhat refreshing though.

Tap @ Prael Proeflokaal. Cloudy yellow blonde color. White head with thin layer retention. Aroma’s: wheat, fruity sourness, light banana. Flavor is light sweet with hints of fruity sourness and bitterness. Light bodied, not thin. Light bitter finish. Add a little salt and it could be a Gose.

Little cloudy light beige beer, foamy white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: almost no banana, some vegetables, parsley, orange peel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: some grains, citrus, bit sourish, quite some chlorine, little bitter, pretty soapy, unpleasant spiciness. Aftertaste: bit sourish, grains, little grassy, some overripe fruits, banana peel. Meh.

On tap at the brewpub on 20/03/2014. Ppale yellow with a white head that dissipates slowly. Aroma of clove and banana with backing wheat. Flavor has sweet wheat and banana. Medium bitter finish.Next one please!

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes goldgelbes Bier mit ordentlichem Schaum. Geruch leicht hefig, leicht fruchtig, Gewürze. Geschmack hefig würzig, leicht fruchtig.

Bottle at Huppel the pub. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is herbal, citrus and yeast. Flavour is light sweet and bitter, moderate acidic, but not in a good way. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Not very good.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has a good amount of clove and banana with backing sweet wheat. Flavor has sweet wheat and banana throughout with a good amount of clove.

Bottle looks very simple, but good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts mild, fine malty-yeasty, modest fruity like apricot. Finish still mild but not washy. Fine yeasty aftertaste. Quite drinkable. Nice!

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a cloudy yellow with no head. Aroma of yeast, cloves and banana. Good witbier flavours of wheat, orange peal and spice. Turns to bread, grain and citrus in the palate.
