A 'schwarzwälder kirsch' collaboration with Brussels Beer Project. Schwarzwälder Kirschtörte is the famous German cake with chocolate and cherry, hence the name :)

Zwart bier met mooie bruine schuimkraag. Smaak is licht romig, zoet, lichtbitter en warm met iets van chokolade en kersen. Voor een Imperial Stout net iets te licht van struktuur, anders was de score ongetwijfeld hoger geweest.

Bottle, 0.33l. Pours murky dark brown color with large frothy brown head, floating yeast particles and sparkling appearance. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa and cherries. Taste starts with medium sweet but rich roasted malt, follows by fruity esters, coffee and grass, mouthfeel is spicy and warming, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. A bit thinner than expected, not so imperial, although still boozy enough...

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of chocolate, malt, red fruit and syrup. Taste has sweet red fruit, chocolate, caramel, licorice and lots of co2. Has a subtle taste of iron as well, seems like something went wrong, never had this with De Molen. Too bad.

almost black colour, huge, though quickly collapsing brown head; aroma of cocoa, unripe plum and dried cherry, as well as roasted notes; taste of burnt bitterness, dark chocolate, unripe plum and dried sour cherry; good one, though not the best imperial stout I've tasted

Bottle from the Merton Beer Festival 2018 and drunk at home. Dark brown black colour. Lasting tan head. Chocolate and a little paper aroma. Again some dark chocolate and paper in mouth. Some cocao nib character. Not sure I get too many cherries. Maybe a little sweet cherry jam on the finish. It's ok, decent carbonation. And it disappeared quickly which is always a good sign. Actually good mouthfeel. Finish has more chocolate and light cherry.

Borefts IX. Day 2. Keg. Clear deep brown beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate, airy and semi dry. Reasonable fine carbonation. Dry dark malts bring mild cream and not so mild licorice. Fair bit of alcohol spicy burn here. Light dry spicy finish. Slightly raw but I still liked it.
