Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

12 oz bottle from a six pack. Aroma is packed with grapefruit; I also get cotton candy, lightly danky. Pours a clear deep old gold hue with a dissipating off-white head; laces a little. Taste is even better than the aroma; the grapefruit really compliment the hops nicely. It starts out with a candy sweetness before a fair amount of bitterness sets in and lingers. Carbonation is medium to high, mouthfeel creamy, body medium. Awesome.

Bottle. Grapefruit and biscuits in the nose. Huge grapefruit flavor, rind and juice, bready malts. This has grapefruit all over it in a somewhat annoying way, and it is a bit too sweet for grapefruit.

Ballast grapefruit IPA vibrant gold prickly grapefruit nose fruity & nice. Great fruity grapefruit but a bit cardboard. Really nice with a solid body and a fantastic nose though the flavor is sort of average.

Bottle: Pours a clear copper color with a thin whitish head. No lacing whatsoever, just an oily slick. The grapefruit scent is powerful and fresh. Taste is strong with fresh grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruit. As it warms, it becomes more of a grapefruit zest and floral hop flavor. Exactly as advertised.

Hazy light amber color with small head. I needed a beer to satisfy my thirst, and this one, combining a dry and well hopped IPA with a pungent presence of pink grapefruit, did the job.

Bottles from Beermongers. Pours a super clear copper golden hue with a medium white head. A huge slice o’ the old grapefruit nose, really this is more like a candied grapefruit. Very drinkable, huge citrus, all the elements of grapefruit, bitter, citrus, oranges, bitter hops. Lovely beer. Super clean and drinkable. Yup. 7%? No way.

Bottle @ BBB. Pours clear deep golden with a frothy offwhite head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is very fruity with caramel, grapefruit juice, moist grass, pine needles, minerals, grapefruit zest and lemon zest. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter and fruity with caramel, grapefruit juice, mango, star fruit, moist grass, pine needles, grapefruit pith and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with caramel, grapefruit juice, star fruit, moist grass, pine needles, grapefruit pith and lemon zest. Fun to see this hitting Swedish shores. I suspect it really pops when fresh but this is still good. Grapefruit character is really intense! --- Beer merged from original tick of Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin on 05 Feb 2015 at 18:51 - Score: 8. Original review text: Slightly faded but still good with tons of grapefruit. 3,8.

12 oz. bottle, pours a fairly clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out huge grapefruit juice - very pithy and pulpy citrus, with resinous hops. Flavour is refreshing, with resinous and piney hops, and grapefruity and other citrusy notes. Super refreshing and drinkable. Excellent.

Bottle - Sweet grapefruit and malts with some orange. Clear orange gold with a decent white head. Sweet perfumy, grapefruit and orange. Big quick hit of bitterness and a clean finish. Surprising light and very easy drinking for 7%.
