Bottle at home, picked up from Honest Brew on what should have been our wedding day ... fucken lockdown, 16/05/20. Chestnut brown with a beige cap that dissipates to edgework. Nose is toffee, good multi layered barrel tones, nutty, light booze, muscovado sugars, fruit cake. Taste comprises sweet malts, brown sugar melt, caramel, light sherry kiss, toffee fudge, Demerara sugars, fruit loaf, light vinous twang, Pedro kiss. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising alcoholic kiss. Solid well curated BW ... all the barrel effects sing from the same hymn sheet.

15th February 2020 Almost clear dark brown beer, small pale tan head, dies back quickly. Palate is remarkably light for its hefty 14.5% ABV! You could say that the malts were a little thin, but they are tasty with malt cream and a whisper of dark chocolate. Well hello Pedro Ximenez. Bold fruity and beautiful. A really good depth of sherry flavour, without the slightly cloying PX sweetness. A little wet wood, and a nice bourbon fruitiness. The vermouth barrel ( what?) comes in at the very end, with a light botanical tang. Salted caramel and tangy rich ripe fruits. Finishes reasonably smooth, with just a modest spice. Fuck me, this is ruinous! Drinks way too easy, the complex flavour array sing together harmoniously and the end result is a bit of a stunner!

500ml bottle at home. Pours a viscous and oily brown amber, no head. Deep raisin, date, currant, brown sugar, molasses, Christmas cake aroma. Flavour is raisin, brown sugar, oak, Christmas cake, slight butter rum and whiskey note. Complex and no booze burn at all. One of the best of this year.

500ml bottle. Cloudy, amber-ish brown colour with average, frothy, fading, beige to tan head. Caramel malty aroma, BA notes of vanilla, oak, toffee, minimally peaty and smoky overtones, a hoppy touch of orange zest. Taste is sweet caramel malty, BA notes of toffee, vanilla, oak, a cautious peaty and smoky touch, zesty hoppy overtones with a touch of orange peel, blood orange; warming alcoholic finish. Full body, oily texture, smooth and soft palate. Well balanced, very harmonious, homogeneous, integrated.

Batch 0347. All I expected. Lots of bourbon, yet thick. Niceky malty barleywine. Bittersweet, not too sticky. Very nice body, with a hint of wheat for smoothness?

1st September 2018
Very hazy amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly dry and has a good minerally crispness. The palate identifies this as a new beer because the taste has a distinctly mature malt flavour, could be from a 40 year old Gales beer or something, caramellish and slightly woody. The other giveaway is the Irish whiskey. smooth and a little creamy with some mildly tangy whiskey covered fruits. Smooth semi dry and slightly spicy finish. Works well with distinctly old - new vibe.

65cl Bottle, thanks Harmen! Brown colour, beige head. Aroma of soft and smooth whisky, mellow oak, sweet malts, dark fruits, raisins soaked in alcohol, toffee. Flavour is sweet, malty, very fruity, toffee, hint of wood, oak, vanilla, soft alcohol, smooth as Irish Whisky itself. Full bodied. Really nice.

Sweet roasted grain, barley, sweet dried fried, figs, raisans, dates, caramel, leathery, woody, mosty, nice whisky touches, vanilla as well. Big sweet, bitter and quite dry.
