Bottle from my Secret Santa last year, kept it for a year before opening. Dirty orange pour. Nose has light fruity feel, lots of peat and smoky bourbon character. Taste is sour, some light fruit juice tartness, apple peels and bitter funk. Coconut and vanilla? Really interesting actually, very unique and actually quite satisfying. Nicely blended and good apple juicy bitter linger. Extra points for experimental spirit.

Pours hazy golden, topped with smaller white head. Aroma is pure strong smoke - ham and woody. Taste has some initial sourness, followed by smoky woodiness and ham with some alcohol warmth. No thank you. Pure smoke and nothing else.

Draft at Braustelle. Hazy amber brown with a small off white head. Aroma of peat, oak barrel, boozy scotch, malt, caramel and tart light fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light to moderate sour. Medium bodied with alcohol warmth and soft carbonation.

0.33 l bottle from ’Hopfenrausch’, best before December 2018. Gusher! Minimally hazy, dark golden amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, a bit funky and very smoky aroma of caramel, barnyard, peat, iodine, vanilla, some oak and hints of lemon. Slightly sweetish, moderately sour, very smoky and a bit funky taste of lemon, gooseberry, vanilla, massive peat as well as iodine, some vanilla and a touch of barnyard, followed by a medium long, moderately tart, very peaty-smoky, slightly woody-dry and a bit warming finish. Medium body, slightly creamy, a bit astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very interesting, a bit all over the place, annoying gusher, quite extreme as well, but nevertheless enjoyable if you like heavy, sourish peat bombs which I apparently do.
