Draft in Salzburg, Austria. Sweet, almost porty beer. Slight marmaladey fruit finish. Lip smacking and very moorish. Head and shoulders above every Austrian yellow beer I’ve tried.

Bottle, 7.1%. Sweet malt aroma, hint of pepper. Clear yellow colour. Small stable white head. Quite refreshing hop aroma, flowery with a little herbal touch in the finish. The flavour is a little citric, OK clean. Not caramelly like many light bocks, more like just a strong lager.

Bottled. Clear golden, small head. Grassy spicy nose. Fruity and vinous, medium bodied with long resiny bitterness. Flavourful, but a bit unrefined.

0.5 l bottle from an Eurospar in Graz. Poured golden body with big white cremy head. Interesting aroma, which is dominated by citrus and grass rather than other, malty component. Sourish flavor initially, but mostly sweetish malty, pleasant but pretty empty for the style. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Finish is some herbal bittersweet, relatively short. Unusual bock, nothing special though, pretty boring, but still not bad and drinkable.

0.5l bottle purchased in some Spar in Graz Poured a nice pale golden colour with a medium sized fluffy white head at a medium pace (heh). Nice flowery malty nise, with some hoppy hints. Too faint though. Initially a nice lemony, bitter and somewhat acidic herbal hoppy taste, lacking the alcohol/malt assault of other Austrian Heller Bocks. Don’t get me wrong, the malt is still there, but it’s fine and pleasant... almost too fine and light for the style. The alcohol could be felt as it warmed, but never too much. Long acidic-bitter chewy hoppy aftertaste. The hopiness does seem a little overstated from time to time, and could be annoying to some, but this is still a quality beer. Not so much a Bock as a... say "Imperial Pilsner" (could be making a mistake as I’ve never had one) and possibly underrated.
