This NW style sour ale is a blend of Wheat ales that were aged in oak wine barrels with cranberries, orange peel and cinnamon for up to 14 months. Using cranberries grown along the Oregon coast, the 2015 blend offers brilliant cranberry fruit flavor with soft spice notes that offer refreshment throughout the entire year.

Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 24.04.17 and 16.10.17. Cloudy orange. White head and lacing. Excellent acid and complex aroma and taste of cranberries, gooseberries, fresh citrus, tropical fruits and cocktails. Very dry, Superb!!!

750 ml corked & caged bottle, as Cascade Cranberry Oak Aged Northwest Sour Ale, ale aged in oak barrels with cranberries and spices, 2016 Project. ABV is 6.6%. At Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Peach coloured beer, huge off-white head with a peachy hue. Strong sourish aroma of cranberries and spices. The flavour is moderately sour, far from extreme. Again notes of cranberries, hints of mild spices.

UFO galore into dense, dotted pink head over muddy pink to orange-amber beer. Fruit & lactic acid, red fruit, toilet soap, lemon, wheat, cranberryjuice and belatedly, cinnamon. Sour, acidic, again lactic & fruitacids. Not specifically cranberry taste, but definitely red fruit and -berries. Sharp, burning MF, acidburn and -thinning. Bit wheatslick, maybe. Good carbonation. In-yer-face sour. I would have suspected a certain bitterness from the cranberries, but no.

Valhalla, Brooklyn tap: pours a murky red with a white head. Aroma is cranberry, cinnamon, wood. Everyone around me told me this tastes like Christmas. Not all that sour bit enough. Fortunately not super sweet. Not bad.

Bottle, 2014 project. Pours clear pinkish orange, large creamy beige head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is super funky, dusty, horse blanket, a touch of cheese, oak. Flavor is light plus tart, pretty funky. I get no cranberry per se. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Borefts VIII. Day 2. Keg. Hazy orange - peach beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and finely crisp. Good punchy fruits, tart. Cranberry, orange and something like raspberry. Dry sourish finish. Bright and acid free, very drinkable.

Sample at Borefts 2016. Poured a hazy reddish light amber with a round bubbly white head. The aroma is big yeast, acid cranberry citrus. The flavour is light sour with a fresh light crisp fruity bubbly palate. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Refreshing and easy to drink. Would go well with many foods instead of wine.

On tap at Borefts Bier Festival, 2016. Pours unclear deep orange to red with off-white head. Fruity, cranberries, sweetish, light sourness, bit lactic. Soft carbonation. Medium bodied.
