Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 1st October 2023. Deep, almost impenetrable sepia with disappearing pale tan foam and spot lacing. Roasty malt aroma. Rich and intense roastiness in-mouth with hints of smoke and spices. A solid roasty finish. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at Beer Hunters. Dark opaque colour, steady beige head. Toasted malts, some licorice in the nose. Medium-bodied. Toasted, resiny hoppy, licorice in the flavour. Feels stronger than its abv.

Cask at The Bell - Walthamstow. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. The aroma holds moderate roast, some coffee grounds, cocoa. Light sweet flavour with more roast, harsh ashy bitterness, scorched earth, baking cocoa, some pine, grapefruit. Light bodied with soft carbonation; not the best condition. Finishes with some vegetal notes, more harsh ash, moderate astringency, citrus peel, lime zest. A little sketchy overall.

Tap at Euston Tap. Black beer lasting tan head. A dry stout. Dry malts. Dry finish. Not overly roasty. Bit of tar and charcoal. Good condition and temperature. Yes a nicely drinkable dry stout.
