Craft Beer is Dead is our exploration with a more classic style of IPA. Initially, we set out to make an American IPA, but that was a few iterations ago. This current version is more of a West Coast/California/Blond IPA style, hopped with Centennial, Citra, and Citra Cryo.

Can, shared with Hrabren. Enormous thanks mcberko! Hazy orange-golden body, medium white head, medium retention. Lovely full aroma, orange, herbal, flowery, mild dank, vaaague alcohol perhaps. Smooth, soft, almost juicy body, backed by a well integrated herbal hoppy bitterness, peach, bitter oranges, bitter orange peel, peppery. Complex, tasty, damn close to fantastic. Slightly gets rough at the adges here and there, it would have been a 4 otherwise. These Canadians rock!

0.5 l can, courtesy of Marko. Huge thanks. Hazy dark golden, medium off-white creamy head. Very fresh New World hops. Intense fruity, tropical aroma, passion fruit, melon, light spices. Spicy and fruity flavours with a toasty background and developing bitterness. Not throat twisting, but a solid and bold bitter finish. Medium body, soft to moderate carbonation, very drinkable, soft texture. Almost perfect.

Can - Pure pine. Clear gold with a rich white head. Bitter pine and nice light caramel notes. Solid old school IPA with piney sweetness. Nice.

Thanks mcberko for this one. Pours somewhat hazy orange amber, topped with larger offwhite head. Fruity nose, sweet stone fruit character, resin. Medium bitterness, some fruity sweetness. Herbal finish, lasting aftertaste. Lighter body. Nice one - fruity and bittery.

473 ml can. Pours a slightly hazy amber with moderate head. Aromas of pineapple, muddled stoned fruit and candied citrus. Flavors of bitter pineapple, pine, dried lemons, resin, and toasted malts.

Tall can from the Bottle Jockey. Pours a bit hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is a bit weird with malty, fruity, and some veggie notes. Similar taste with European malts and hops notes. Piney bitterness aftertaste. Somewhat a hybrid between ale and lager. Weird.

473mL bottle, pours a cloidy dark orange with a medium off-white head with good lacing. Nose brings out piney hops, some woody resins, light earthy and moderate caramel malt backing. Flavour follows suit, with lots of piney and resinous hops, light earthiness, and a semi-sweet caramel malt backbone. Perhaps a bit more malt than ideal for me, but this is stellar - good balance and high drinkability. Excellent.

Can, Legacy. Bubbly head. Hazy tan. Sage-like spice on the nose, light citrus, moderate sort of neutral maltiness. Soft bitterness, touch of maltiness maybe with soft golden syrup. Nice IPA, not quite old school, maybe you'd want it cleaner, but still solid. --- Beer merged from original tick of Craft Beer is Dead - Citra cryo, Citra, Centennial on 13 Mar 2022 at 04:04 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Gold, slight haze, thick head. On the nose there’s lots of piney centennial, light fruity notes from the citra. Soft bitterness, light fruitiness still. Almost comes across watery.
