Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Spicy aroma with licorice. Sweet, with lots of anis, tastes almost like candy, or that you forgot that you just used the same glass to drink Pernod a few minutes ago. Not much bitterness, just the sweet caramel with some spices and alcohol.

Bottle at home. Deep hazy brown with a small light beige head which fades fast. Anis is very dominant in the aroma but also some herbs. A lot of shoves and anis in the mouth as well. Watery and silky mouth feel. Medium bitterness. First of all this beer surprised me. This is one of a kind beer with anis through and through. It is one of the most special beers Ive tasted. It gets more round and balanced as the beer gets warmer with more hop taste . The mouth feel is weaker than expected. A beer that is best along with flood.

0.5l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a dark red-brown body with a nice big and lasting both fluffy and bubbly lightly tanned head. Aroma is sweet and spiced! Lots of spices, dark malts, flowers and caramel. Quite different. Average small-bubbled carbonation with a slick to oily mouthfeel. Flavors are also quite spicy with sweet banana-caramel, white pepper, nutmeg and tones of licorice in the finish and a nice warming hint of alcohol in the aftertaste. Different indeed, but it has a lovely mouthfeel and quite a few interesting flavors all the way.
A cute little 0.25l bottle enjoyed @ the train towards Kastrup airport. Straight from the bottle so it's at best a deep brown one this. Spicy nose. Some licorice detected. Herbs also, like cough syrup in a way. It has a nice gliding oily mouthfeel with her a above average prickling carbonation level. Tastes herbal, a bit medicinal. Booze is not hard to detect here. Mild peppermint with lots of dark malty maltiness flavors. Sweet and sticky but surprisingly tasty. 12.01.2014

0,5 l. bottle from IRMA-supermarket. Cloudy, orange-red colour with a medium sized off white head. Very spicy aroma of liquorice and anise with notes of other herbs. Taste is spicey, not recognizable as sweet or bitter. Spicy finish. Too much anise, this beer is very unbalanced.

500 ml bottle, bought by my wife on the DFDS ferry Oslo - Copenhagen. ABV is 7.5%. Spiced with lemon balm, lavender, rosemary, juniper berries and anise. Deep copper to mahogany coloured beer, big off-white head. Spicy aroma, unfortunately anise (which is not my favourite herb) comes up front. Also hints of caramel malts. The flavour is also spicy and herbal, with moderate notes of caramel malts. Again the anise ruins much of the pleasure for me. This would be a better beer without it.

Clear orange brown with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel, malty and very spicy. Flavor is rather sweet and light bitter. Sweet and spicy finish. Too spicy. Not nearly as good as the original from Brøckhouse. Skands should really stay away from copying other beers, whether they do it as a tribute or for some other reason. Their copy of Chimay Bleu resembled the original but was poorer in every aspect, and where’s the point in that? Again this beer resemles Brøckhouse’s version, but is just poorer in every aspect. 231010
