Appearance is amber, with a one finger light foamy head. A nice raisin, fruitcake, nutty aroma. Taste- lots of malt and raisin, caramel hints, some hop bitterness. Pretty good.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol, October 2013. Sweet, malty beer with a touch of hop before a decent, bitter finish. Fine.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival - Le Gothique, London. Pours clear amber with a big, frothy white head. The nose has grainy bread, dried berries and nuts. Light to medium sweet flavor with light doughy and dry bread, dry toffee, further berry character. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Further dry and toasty brown bread in the finish, dried berries, light leafy bitterness. Not too shabby at all. Good effort, Sheppy!

The Hain Line, St Ives. Cask. Pretty much a clear deep amber beer. Small pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Smooth malt with a little dry cream. Nice nutty tone. Whisper of dried fruits and mellow peel hops. Finishes semi dry. Tasty enough!

Cask at Tanners Hall JDW Darlington. Brown amber colour, off-white foam head and aroma of malt, hint of citrus hop. Taste is roast malt, coffee, and some citrusy hop bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Quite OK.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 18 October. Poured a clear chestnut with a thin white head and good lacing. Aroma is slightly spice with abundant caramel and malts. Flavours of cinnamon, fruit cake and orange peal. Finished with dry grain, peppery spice and astringent bitter resin.

Cask at the Mail Rooms, Ross On Wye, 17/10/13. Clear copper with a good sized light beige head. Nose is on the thin side, dark malt, light toffee strains, faint fruit notes. Taste picks up with a bittle more depth in the form of biscuit malt, toffee, fruity tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate. Ok stuff, this one picked up from the thin nose.

Cask at Wetherspoons, Reading. Deep amber-ruby with a thin off- white head. Blackberry leaves, blackcurrant, and toffee on a crisp autumn evening when you’re kicking through crunchy leaves on your way to the local bonfire night celebrations. Dry finish. Satisfying and fulfilling, a perfect beer for this time of year. I liked this!

Cask at JDW Paradise Forum; dark amber pour with medium white head, toasted malt aroma, very big toast malts in the taste a slight hint of coffee some drak fruits and a small amout of citrus.
