Pete Versus The World is our 8.1% Double IPA brewed with Centennial, Citra, Amarillo and Cascade. It’s the first time we’ve brewed a DIPA and it was brewer Pete Brown’s goodbye beer and parting gift to us at the brewery. Released 12 July 2013.
Amber-coloured and unfiltered, it’s got roasted citrus and fruity hops in the aroma, the body is full and smooth and then there’s a long, deep hop flavour ripping through the whole brew.
Malt: Pale, Cara
Hops: Centennial, Citra, Amarillo, Cascade

Keg at the brewery taproom - London. Pours cloudy orange-gold with a big, fluffy off-white head. The aroma has lots of melon and tropical fruits, some mandarin orange. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of resinous pine, juicy fruits, some bitter citrus rind. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with plenty of sticky, ripe tropical fruit character, a bit of dried pine needles, restrained pale malt sweetness. Decent stuff. Drinks pretty good for the strength.

On tap at Euston Tap. Clear amber lasting white head. For a double ipa I would expect more hops. Belies it’s strength. Some bitterness on the finish. Ok as I drank it the hops did come through. Yep decent hoppy dipa

Keg at the Euston Tap, 23/08/13. Dark golden amner with a thin off white head. Nose is toasted malts, hops, caramel, orange, grass. Taste comprises caramel malt, biscuit, light grapefruit, residual sugars, orange pith, light booze. Medium bodied with bite, moderate carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish. Drinkable but for the style lacks depth and a little subdued. Style wise ... miss !

Euston Tap. Keg. Hazy gold beer. Small white head. Smooth palate with fine carbonation. A little rawness to the malt. Then a sweet strawberries and tropical fruits vibe. Little floralness. A bit messy and strange but oddly quite drinkable. Weird!

Keg at Euston Tap. It pours hazy amber with a thick white head. The nose is pine, resin, sweet dough, hay and ripe citrus. The taste is bitter-sweet, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, marmalade, pine, resin, pepper and some alcohol with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very nice balance and good drinkability. Tasty.
