Bottle from Tesco. Deep gold and pretty fizzy. Displayed all the boiled sweet and cardboard character of a poorly bottled English beer. Sink pour.

Bottle from Tesco, Aylesbury, Bucks, consumed at Treetops campsite, Hedgerley, Bucks, Saturday 18th August 2012 Golden in colour with an almost green tinge. Far better than I expected though this is still a lack of depth or interest here. Sweetish, and there is a summeriness about this, easy drinking but lacks hoppy bite, soft in mouth, a little fruity and tangy. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 3.0

Pours gold into a shaker. White head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Sour, putrid honey aromas. Sweet and sour honey upfront turning to sour caramel in the lasting bitter finish.

bottle - Pours gold with a small white head and has a mild grainy, toasty aroma. The flavor is sweet with a burnt caramel character and mild bitterness. It’s light bodied and bubbly on the palate. Overall this is not a good beer. I also found it odd for a summer ale. It put me more in mind of a marzen and not a good one at that.

330ml bottle - my favourite of the three Newcastle ales on offer, a refreshing ale with a good citrus bite.

Pours clear dark golden color with white head. Aromas of biscuit malts, floral hops and fruit. Fruity and bready flavors with some off flavors. Medium body with average carbonation. Not very good.

The body is medium gold and clear under a sticky, tall white head. Soapy aroma. The flavor repeats the soapy thing that was in the aroma. lightly spicy. Meh.

Vaguely amber colour, but it isn’t all that attractive. Bleached white head. Aroma us mostly overripe fruit. Taste is like neutered newkie, mineral water, and more overripe fruit. Not a fan, kind of a poor brand extension.

Bottle provided by Newcastle’s ad agency. Pours a big head in my Nonick glass. The usual plain beer smell I often get from a Blond Ale. Golden malt color, slightly darker than the usual pale beer. Seems like some German hops in the nose. The first taste, once I get around the foam, brings in a few more earthy English hops, with that occasional hint of mint. But that’s just me. Tastes a little stronger than its label says it should, maybe it’s the presence of some extra malt. Not too bad, I’d recommend it for you summer party outings.

355ml bottle from Tesco. Amber with a weak white head; floral aroma; sweet floral taste with a metallic edge; and a weak damp cardboard finish.Nothing like the Newcastle of old.
