After his impressive début at our 2011 spring real-ale festival, Brendan Varis, from Feral (Australia’s reigning champion brewery), has returned to brew another beer for us, this time collaborating with Banks’s Brewery, in the West Midlands. This impressive IPA is brimming with recently released Australian-grown-and-bred hop varieties, providing an intense tropical fruit aroma and flavours of pineapple, mango and passion fruit.
Hops used: Galaxy, Stella, Topaz

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Pleasant citrus on the nose, light bready malts. Medium sweet flavor with grapefruit, melon and orange. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild resinous finish with mellow pine, further grapefruit and orange. Nice IPA. Probably the best of this Spoon Fest.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Copper coloured with a slight white head. Tropical fruit aroma of mango, pineapple and clementine. Flavour had plenty more fruit, some solid malts and a dryish finish. Good.

Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill 3 Nov 12. JDW festivaløl. Gyldenbrun. Lavt, litt farget skum som klamrer seg til glasset. God fruktaroma. Smaken overmoden frukt. Banan. Syrlig avslutning. Tungdrikkelig.

Hopped with plenty of tropical fruit. It’s strength is evident in its full body.

Festival ale, half, at JDWs Liberty Bounds. Patchy surface with lots of dimples. Good lacing down the glass. Clear copper coloured body. Fine aroma of hoppy fruits and mid-sweet malts. Orange and pineapples in flavour with notes of semi-sweet malts. Marmalade impression. Bittersweet ending that lingers for a white. Nice (London, 03.11.2012).

Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear gold beer, little white head. Light crisp palate. Really nice hops - sweetish tropical fruits, mango and peach with lesser notes of pineapple and orange. Mild spice. Minerally semi dry finish. Very drinkable, in fact I had another!

Cask at JDW Briar Rose part autumn 2012 beer fest; amber colour, fresh hop aroma, this is the second decent IPA I’ve had today. Piney citrus taste with a hint of grapefruit and um bungo. Quite resinous mouth feel.
