Pig’s Ear Fest. Cask. Lightly hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and has good fine carbonation. Smooth light dry malts, sweetish. Mild floralness that gets a little bitter. Mild spice. Light dry finish. Okay beer that is a little over dry.

Cask at Pig’s Ear Fest, Hackney, London. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, malty, caramel aroma. Tastes pretty much the same, hoppy, malty, caramel. It is OK.

Cask at Imperial College Union Bar, South Kensington. An amber pour with a loose soapy-looking white head; earthy aroma; light bready malt body, with lots of fresh hops giving a crisp, grassy, herbal bitterness that stings the throat slightly (in a nice way), before a clean finish. Refreshing and very drinkable.

Half pint, cask, recommended by the barman at Earl of Essex. Served rather chilled down. Clear copper coloured body with a bubbly ring to the rim of the surface. Hop fruity taste with bread beneath. Fresh citrus taste added by restrained caramel sweetness. Fruity bitterness to the ending. Medium to thin bodied. Fresh, clean, and smooth in the mouth. Moreish stuff (London 23.09.2014).

Cask at the Earl of Essex - London. Pours clear amber-gold with a weak, bubbly white head. Understated aroma with slight wood, grains, citrus. Light sweet flavor with strong bitterness, some leaves, minerals, meat, rotten wood, moldy bread, grain husk. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Finishes with astringent, smokey minerality, more grains, earth, wood. Not good.
