500ml bottle from the Durham brewery shop. Pours black-brown in colour with a tan foam head that diminishes and aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee. Flavour is dark malty, roasted, toffee, raisins, chocolate, coffee, berry fruits, spice, boozy with some grassy hop bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dark fruity & spicey roast bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle at Craig’s house. Appearance - close to opaque black with a decent head. Nose - dark chocolate and coffee. Taste - same again. Boozy note on the end. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy and crunchy texture and a long boozy finish. Overall - a bit boozy but enjoyable all the same.

6th Feb 2015: large sample from a bottle at the 3rd Annual beer exchange in De Bierboom (Brugge). Poured a very deep, dark brown with a well tanned head on top. Malty lead in both the aroma and taste: dark chocolate, spiced wooden notes and dark berries all marry together to produce a dry, solid Stout with clout. Very drinkable.

31st January 2015
Almost opaque dark brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is a little soft and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Smooth dry dark malts. Mild dark chocolate, a little aged powdery tasting. Whisper of banana ester. Spice. Tangy yeasty dark fruits before a light dry finish. Mildly spicy linger. Not bad.
