Bottle share at Leighton’s Stratoflat. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry with decent fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, tangy with a trace of dark chocolate. Turns lactose tangy before the light finish. Not bad.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, dark brown with a creamy tan head. The nose holds some dusty toast, vague cocoa, earth. Light sweet flavor with a bit of gooey chocolate, some dark fruits, figs, faint metal. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes sweet with mild roast, cocoa, faint earthy bitterness, dried dark fruits. So so.

Bottle at Leightons. It pours deep brown with a small off-white head. The nose is earthy roast, coffee grounds, mild sweetness and milk chocolate. The taste is bitter, earthy roast, light pepper, mild acidity, caramel, light astringency and milk chocolate with a short, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot to it. Fine.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours black with a massive off-white head. Light roast aromas, light chocolate. Taste is sweet, but not overly so. Decent body for the strength. Good.
