Cask at The George, Croydon. It pours clear deep brown with a small off-white head. The aroma is quite sweet, sugary, cola, boiled sweets and fruit cake The taste is drying, woody, leather, cheap cola, treacle, bit of dried fruits, chewy malt and damp leaves with sweetish, sticky finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A bit muddled and chewy. OK, but I would rush back for another.

Pours a clear brown colour with a medium sized frothy beige head. Doughy bread and grain aroma with some fruity notes. Moderately sweet, malt, caramel and bready with some rye flavours. A bit watery and thin, grassy bitterness in the finish.

Handpull cask from the Crown & Shuttle, Shoreditch. Reddish brown, translucent and without much head. Redcurrant, crystal malt with some vegetal herby cressy notes that some poorly put-together beers have. Malty and slightly sour taste. Long medicinal finish. Ugh.

Cask half-pint on 14th Feb 2017 in ’Knowles of Norwood. Red hue to the dark brown body, the head a beige affair that hung around (like on a hookers shoulder). Malty aroma and taste, maybe a handful of Rye thrown into the kettle? Starts like it’s going to be fairly sweet, then tails off to a semi-bitter finish. Not the best Sambrooks beer I have had. Something not quite right about it.

Gravity cask at the Richmond Brewers Market. Pours clear brown with a fast-fading white head. Light doughy brown bread in the nose, some grains. Light sweet flavor, earthy, with notes of plastic, light Angel, harsh grass. Light bodied with soft carbonation. A little astringent on the finish, with more plastic, dirty grains, doughy bread. Pretty rough.
