Bottle shared at Leightons place. Thanks to the Black IPA king. Reddy amber coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is musty old, aged, smoke, tangy, cherry. Flavour is composed of tangy, old stale malts, grains, smoke. Burnt sugar. Strong bitter in the finish. Palate is mid sweet, lowish carbonation Burnt toast lingers. Did not get this beer at all.

Bottleshare at Leighton’s Stratoflat. Thanks to the CDA hound. Lightly hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate with light carbonation. Smooth malts with modestly tangy caramel. Bitterish citrus hops, trace of pine. Bitterness ramps up at finish and leads to a long bitter linger. Comes over as a bitter amber.

Nose is dark berry fruits, pine, charr, light roast, earthy hop strokes, cocoa rub. Taste comprises pine needle, chocolate dusting, red berry snap, scorched earth, dark fruits, charr. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough CDA.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours cloudy deep reddish brown with a decent off-white. The nose is rich, juicy, papaya, dried mango, passion fruit, earthy roast, dried berry, cranberry and light jam. The taste is bitter, earthy roast, jammy fruits, rather bitter indeed, charred wood, some astringency, toasty and dank hoppage with a lingering bitter-dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Punchy and flavoursome CDA. Nice work.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. Pours clear brown with a creamy tan head. Dusty cocoa in the nose, earth, leafy hops, pine. Light to medium sweet flavor with some minerals, bitter cocoa, earth, moderate roast. Light bodied with active carbonation. Dry finish, very bitter, a little astringent, some rindy citrus. So so.

Cask. Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Hazy, dark brown. Bubbly, messy, sticky, tan head. Chocolately, roast coffee bean malts. Grassy hop. Bit of a brûléed grapefruit thing going on. I think I get the mango, but probably because I’m looking for it. Drinks smooth, full, with the mango / papaya now coming through, providing a juicy, sweet element. Finishes long, light bitter. Some of that sweetness hangs on until the end. Nice one.
