Cask half pint @ Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours deep reddish amber, frothy off-white head. Aroma is caramel and raisins. Taste is good nutty caramel malts with faint tobacco. Solid mild.

Cask @ Wetherspoon’s Piccadilly, Manchester. Dark mahogany coloured with a thin head. Slightly sweetened mild with a few roasted malts evident too in both aroma and taste. It has a bit of a strength as well.

Cask at the Crosse Keys (JDW), City of London. A rich mahogany colour with a loose white head; chocolate aroma; smooth in the mouth with lots of taosted grains; a pleasant estery bitterness; and some coffee to finish. A very nice mild.

Cask-condtioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 05/09/09. Dark brown in colour with a decent tan head. Sweet ruffles and milk chocolate aroma. Favlour had more of the same, with some fruit, roastiness and a decent bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Cask hand pull at Society Rooms Maidstone. Clear dark brown with lasting dark beige head. Aroma of toffee and malt. And coffee. Great condition and some sour dark fruits in the flavour. Wow this is good stuff. No huge hop so yes a mild but there is some sting on finish. The sour fruit does remind me of an old ale. Its excellent in a really challenging way.
