BrewDog #Collabfest 2015: Last year we thought our annual festival of UK brewing collaboration couldn’t get any bigger. And now here we are, twelve months later and #Collabfest is set to return for a third year running – bigger and better than ever.

Embrace the creativity and ingenuity of #Collabfest! In case you’re new here – each year we hook up our amazing UK bar teams with a local craft brewery and give them a blank brewsheet. What results is up to the newly-fledged partnership...

BrewDog Leicester and Mad Hatter teamed up to produce Absolem’s Alt, a 5.4% Autumn-spiced altbier.

Keg at BD Sheps Boosh, 02/11/15. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is a touch harsh, pissy fruits, glue, farty, dirt. Taste comprises caramel, dark fruit rinds, spice, biscuit, a big improvement on the nose. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so, the nose really let this one down.

Keg @ Brewdog Brum. Pours hazy brown, plummy aroma. Taste is dark fruits, christmas spice, rusty autumnal malts. Good but a bit too spicy for me.

Keg at Shep’s bush Brewdog. Collab fest 2015. Thanks Kenny, opaque black brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is odd sweet nutty malts, cake, light berry. Flavour is composed of tart fruit apricot, raspberry. Nutty cakey. Malts, some oxidation. Palate is pale grains, soapy. Tangy, highish carbonation, not good.

Keg at BD CJ. It pours opaque darkest brown with minimal head. The nose is earthy, toasty, autumnal spiced, pumpkin pie, dried fruits and toffee. The taste is bitter-sweet, warming spice, earthy, toast, earthy roast, mild acidity and damp wood with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit too earthy and woody. Not bad.
