Surprising--sweetness up front fades into smoky complexity

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 24 Nov 2015) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, maple syrup, honey and caramel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, maple syrup, honey and a generously bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. A bit weird, hardly balanced but quite tasty, saved by the fresh bitterness. Quite nice.

Cask at the Craft Beer co, Clerkenwell. Gold pour with a white head. Lots of maple syrup in the nose, splash of treacle, toffee and pepper in there too. The pepper continues into the flavour with that interesting syrupy edge. Not bad.

Cask gravity at Firkin Ale House Folkestone, clear amber colour lasting white head. well the maple comes through. Like licking the inside of a nutshell coated in maple syrup. Hoppy on finish. I really liked it. Sweet and dry at the same time. Good.

Cask at CBC Brixton, 21/10/15. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is big on maple syrup, wheaten bread, light spice. Taste comprises caramel wafer, big dollop of maple syrup, light citric backnotes, soft bread. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with earthy hop bitterness. Ok stuff ... big on maple syrup, might get a bit too sickly sweet with more than half a pint mind !

Craft Brixton. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light with modest fine carbonation. Thin malts sweetness. Tons of maple, the sweetness balanced by a light floral bitterness. Mild citrus. Light finish. Interesting beer.

Cask at CBC Brixton - London. Pours gold with a foamy white head. The nose definitely has some maple, pale bread. Medium sweet flavor with light oily maple, bitter grass, husky grains, pine. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately bitter on the finish, more grass, some pine, maple, dry pale malts. OK.
